I didn't realize VA had a particular cold but yes biking in the rain can be piercingly cold.

I think you’re in a really bad spot for nasty cold rains. Down here the water is warmer and elsewhere it’s more likely to be a relatively dry snow. You’re in the land of ice bucket challenge rainy days.

I've been running 3-4 times a week lately.
Not long, about 15 minutes but it's a bit uphill most of the time so it's still relatively tiring.
Feels good.

I ran my first 5k on Saturday! I am still buzzing about it, I didn’t really do any training or anything so it wasn’t easy for my fat asthmatic ass but I did it!

HaHa! Good for you FETCHER !!

I'd be interested to know your time and other details, so I can compare:-

I've done a few 5km. runs: always on Sunday mornings, always in the same absolutely flat city, and always in the "over 50s" category. Most often they've been organised about Christmas time, with an impressive turnout: serious contenders doing a 10km route, the 5km crowd straggling a little.

My "run" was always jog for a bit, then walk, then jog again: repeat until you see the finish line or faint, whichever comes first. My time was usually about 45 mins, which put me somewhere in the middle of the pack.
