S_K, the counter balance and stub looks like an Origin Live structural mod (same as mine) and a large improvement over the original plastic stub. Nice TT. yes you will have to go a long way to improve on it. One day see if you can find a Townsend Rock, you will be impressed. I prefer the Rock to the Linn Sondek.
May it bring you many years of happy listening.

It actually is an origin live arm.
We didn't know that in the beginning.
The arm cable (which was thought to be an incognito cable) turned out to be original was well. So the arm is dampened, internally and has the origin live weight.
It's also got the original Klotz cable.

It does sound incredible, but there's one strange problem.
You know how you have to put the belt on a different pulley to play 45rpm?
It runs too fast on 45rpm. It runs just fine on 33rpm.
How is that even possible? The belt is brand new, original Rega.

Could you guys recommend me a set of 2 speakers I could use mainly for movies / TV and some music listening?

I want something I can find used online. I will be using them with my PC, but I already have a nice DAC.

I'd like to spend under $30. They don't need to be amazing, just decent.

Honestly for that kind of money I would go on craigslist and find a few you may like and listen to them. If you like it buy it. Otherwise 30 bucks isnt going to get you anything that sounds great.

A Denon DCD-755AR

Ran into this nice CD player at a thrift store/charity shop/recycling store, whatever you want to call it. It was only 6 euro's so I figured it was worth a try. A friend of mine bought the same player on a flea market/bootsale/yardsale a couple of months back and we were quite surprised by how well it sounds. It's not a very expensive model, somewhat midrange, but it sounded way better than expected.

Took it home, wouldn't read a CD, opened it up, cleaned the lens and it works like new again. It's been used quite a lot, the icons on the play/stop/pause buttons are worn, but it works perfectly and apart from these worn buttons it looks like new as well.
Bargain

Also, Batty might like this; Two oval Saba Green Cone speakers. They do indeed sound quite impressive!

Oh my.
I just borrowed this, to see if I liked it and if I wanted to buy it.

Boy do I like it.
Not going to give it back!

It sounds as epic as it's ugly.
It's name? Densen B200/B300. Where B stands for Beat.
I didn't make this crap up. But it's really good
