Picked one of these up today. I watched a lot of reviews on it, listened to samples and thought I liked what I heard based on those, but upon taking it home and trying it out on my own, I am not so sure.

It is deft. a high gain pedal. BOSS is not lying when they say it is the one with the most gain. It has a sound I am not sure if I like at this time. Really high and not really low. The 2 band EQ is not the greatest.

I like the Metal Zone more for thrashy old school sounds, the 3 band works well. Has a more even tone.

I think this pedal is like what the Grunge was (in name only)... a pedal that is branded with an awful name, meant to sell more to people into a style of music. Doesn't really give a lot of what it is actually like.

Makes you think though, when reviews are done on these pedals, they usually do not tell you what their rig set up is, could be running a $3000 amp, and all that... so it gives you more an idea what it will be like when played on higher end gear.

I will keep it and see if I can figure out how to play around with it more, but I think I will be using my Metal Zone more.

If you can find one, a ProCo Rat pedal gives a really great and authentic thrash metal sound, but I really liked my BOSS Metal Zone MT-2.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind picking up one of those. I hear they are pretty great.

I just tried it on my Peavey amp and it sounds 10x better on that.

I hopefully by tomorrow will be playing it on this. Hope it is in order, for the price I can not be certain. But if it is, man, what a deal!

I'm an anti-Fender/ibson person. I don't like the mass produced cookie cutter construction. My G&L ASAT and Legacy give me qulity Tele and Strat. I use Hamer instead of Gibson. My Studio does an articulate LP, by Artist does a good 335. I may never own Fender/Gibson

G&L is just as mass produced. If you dont want a mass produced Fender/Gib get a custom shop.
Or just get a regular one and customize it yourself, more fun that way anyways.

So I spent the last 5 hours playing around with and taking apart my fender jaguar, trying to better intonate it, and fix the action a bit. I've been thinking, should I go out and take it somewhere to properly get it set up, or should I keep fiddling about with it? I'm getting a good tuner soon, so intonating it should not be a problem in the near future. I kind of figured it's about time I learned how to set up my own guitars anyway, I have a radius gauge so the radius is satisfactory, and I fiddled around with the truss rod and am fairly happy with the neck relief (I play hard and bend a lot). So should I keep mucking about and learn as I go?

She's a looker. I love the feel of a Jaguar body. It just molds really well with my form.

Depends on what you need it for. If you're regularly gigging, then I'd say get it to someone who knows what they are doing. If you're just an at-home type of player then by all means play around with it and learn. I probably don't have to tell you that there are thousands of tutorials and resources for properly setting a guitar up on the nets.

I think I just found the deal of a lifetime... but I can't really afford it at the moment, not to mention that I don't have a place to put it. A friend is selling her mother's harpsichord for $3,000. It's about 100 years old and in good condition. It's fucking beautiful. This is the picture she put on the advertisement:

Honestly, I am pining so hard for this instrument right now. But I don't have the money and I don't have the room.
