not sure on the first model but the rainbow effect on the 2nd one can be faked with a lot of paint as opposed to lots of layers of wood.
it's just a matter of spraying successive layers of paint and lacquer in the order you want them to be seen then sanding the body down to the point where the 'right' colour is showing through.
for the first one they might just tape out the natural areas prior to staining the rest. either way i like the two tone version way more than the ultra bright rainbow
