If you do get braces, you can still play the trumpet. Yes, it will hurt a little as your mouth is still getting used to the braces.

I think I had braces when I took up the trumpet in middle school and I was terrible at it, so I switched to trombone which I think is a lot easier than trumpet to play with braces.
