Squire Affinity Jazz basses are good if you're looking for something with versatile tone capability for cheap
For precision styles basses look for something in the realms of a Yamaha BB234 Vintage V74s are good if you need a cheap fretless option with a body that makes you feel like Jaco Pastorius (but I doubt you'd want a fretless as a beginner) Just a recommendation though, cant hurt to go to a music store that stocks basses and try some out for yourself
