Most overrated bands ever?

Piper imo is Floyd's best, i tried listening through DSOTM today but just couldnt i dont like it. The Wall is good but i wonder did it come out with saying what the album was about? Hoobastank sucks the only song somewhat decent is "The Reason" but as for the rest it sucks.

I disagree with all of these except for Michael Jackson. If anything Abba and Prince are underrated.

But back to Michael Jackson. Was America just stupid during the 80s? I mean, with Reagan as president and Michael Jackson as the number one artist, you just have to figure everyone was just using too much cocaine. I hadn't listened to MJ in years and when I was having a party a few months ago, someone put on the music and it occurred to me, "wow, this is just BAD." All of his little sniffles and whines that he injects into the music just ruin it. He sings like a whining girl who is having spontaneous orgasms. Seriously, it is the most annoying music I have ever heard. We were listening to "Man in the Mirror" (and keep in mind, I was not drinking) and it sounded like this to me:

"Gonna feel real good *ugh* (in high pitched voice) gonna make a difference *eeeeh* gonna make it riiiiiiiiiggghhghttt *eeeeuuhhh*. "

Those little injections of sounds just made it sound to contrived and I wonder how we all didn't know there was something seriously wrong with him then. He sucked. He always sucked. He always will suck and Europe needs to understand that they way we now do.

Reeeally reeeally bad?
I think he has his moments. The album Thriller for the most part is great, if anything because it has that many pop classics on it. Yeah a load of it is cheesy and maybe the guy should stop grunting sometimes but if i told myself i didn't like it i would only be lying. Gotta Be Startin' Something is tune-age at it's most powerful.

I place Michael Jackson alongside, say, Prince or Elton John. They're not great, but I really can't get too angry about them the way I do over people like Phil Collins. Maybe it's because I can listen to Jacko and not have an allergic reaction (and Elton's one of my guilty pleasures, not that I admit it to most people I know).

My updated list in no definite order:

Elvis - Can someone remind me why he is considered "The King of Rock 'n' Roll"? Just listen to his music, it's absolute ****. Besides, he didn't even write his own songs, so why is he getting any credit? For having a good voice? Please, then every ****ing American Idol winner should be called "The King". Chuck Berry or Little Richard is much more worthy of that title, if we're talking about 50s rock.

Queen - Their songs lacked any meaning and were full of nonsense and pompous crap.

The Eagles - They had a few nice songs, but don't come close to other country rock acts of the era.

ABBA - I don't think anyone on this forum is a big fan of these, but it's just astonishing the way this band have been praised by simple-minded people.

Prince - Part of the "catchy funk/disco music" thing that plagued the 80s, but lacked any real talent or creativity.

Michael Jackson - Same as above.

In terms of modern music, I think Coldplay could take the cake for being the most overrated band ever/biggest douchebags ever. If you saw the iTunes advertisement for their new album, you would agree.

Firstly, their entire career was spawned from the critical and popular success of A Rush of Blood To The Head. Good album, yes. Great? Maybe. It was like Radiohead's OK Computer all over again. But unlike Radiohead, Coldplay was completely devoid of any remaining creative talents. X & Y was awful. Simply awful. And I'm under the impression that the new album is simply another showing of how they can rewrite their last two works instead of moving forward.

But people still like them. I can't understand why Chris Martin would ever acquiesce appearing in a commercial that made him look like a complete ****head, but he did it. Maybe it was to satiate his movie star wife, his movie star life. Whatever the reason was, his closing lyric, "but that was when I ruled the world," simply puts George W. Bush in contention for the title of World's Biggest Piece of ****.
