I think I banned someone for 10 mins once.

I have a feeling what Big3 saw was Tumor's old account that I disabled a few months ago.

I received an infraction from you in mid 2009 for hurting your feelings. (which I DEEPLY DEEPLY REGET) I am cursed to look at it each time I go to control panel. Its like a bad scar, reminds me of what I was and the bad things I have done.

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-28-2011 01:41 PM

Yeah well

My feelings are still hurt :(

Bloozcrooz 02-28-2011 08:43 PM

hey mods did you guys ban the cunning stunt or whatever his name was?

At his request, yes.
The duration is 3 months.

Lol..you can request a ban? Wth would someone want to do that? Afraid they are spending to much time on here or something?

That's the case most of the time. It actually happens more often than one would think. I guess some people either lack self control, or enjoy the attention.

Bloozcrooz 02-28-2011 09:06 PM

Im suprised at the lack of curiousity shown from the forum. Usually its swarmed with people inquiring as to why the ban took place.

s_k 03-01-2011 01:24 AM

Another requested ban.
Ah well, I'm glad it was requested then.
Still think it's a bit strange.

James 03-01-2011 02:04 AM

He's been posting on RYM more so lately anyway. We've been replaced :(

Guybrush 03-01-2011 02:06 AM

I requested my own ban to work on my thesis .. But I've no problem admitting that I have a problem with self-discipline. If the work I do on the computer is like a nightmare and musicbanter is just a page away in a browser, it's hard for me not to spend time here.

I got a lot of work done during my 3 months away :p:

TheBig3 03-03-2011 08:10 AM

I have the same issue, I just instead make my work day 13 hours long to do both. Right now I'm designing a camp brochure. AND POSTING!!!!!!!!

s_k 03-10-2011 07:32 PM

Hey, is Annie banned or is it another forum flaw?
Her name has a line through it now...

Edit: We have a Tumor and a TumorAttitude? I'm a bit confused.

TumorAttitude was her original account, and she requested for it to be perma-banned a few months ago.

I received one similar from right-track for posting in the football thread. It haunts my dreams.

She has two accounts and requested for one to be banned?
Weird...
Ah well, it's a good thing I was wrong. I like that crazy girl :D.

No, she had one account, apparently wanted a new one, so she made a new one and requested the other to be banned.

(I know Tumor has her reason so this question doesn't pertain to her, but more in general.) Is it better to have a name change, or to open one account and have the other banned (or canceled)?

Scarlett O'Hara 03-10-2011 08:52 PM

It's better to have name changes, but it does take a little time to wait for Yac to change it (a few days).

NSW 03-10-2011 08:54 PM

Also, a name change means you get to keep your post count. A new account means you start over.

Something to keep in mind if you care about post count.

s_k 03-11-2011 06:40 AM

Yes, exactly!
Why would you want a new account? That would reset your post count.
Altough I have to add that on my forum I (the mod) can set the post count :)

I would like to be able to do that in addition to a number of things only possible with ftp/database access .. but this isn't our forum, unfortunately. :(

You could set your post count to a million

Which forum is that?

s_k 03-12-2011 06:03 PM

Analogaudio.nl, but since you can't read the rules I'm already going to tell you: You can only join if you have a love for open reel tapedecks. Sounds a bit odd, but that forum is about as active as this one :D.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-12-2011 08:18 PM

Google chrome translates it from Dutch to English for me, but waiting for that to load each time would drive me crazy lol.

s_k 03-13-2011 07:46 AM

Haha, believe me, it's a mess when it's translated.
Theres a dutch saying that says "Liever een kleine die steigert dan een grote die weigert".
Meaning 'rather a small one that works than a big one that doesn't work'.
Literally translated it says 'rather a small one that prances than a big one that refuses'.

When translated into english it says:
Rather a big one that puts up scaffolding than a small one that refuses' ;D

That was babelfish back then.
I just tried it with google translate
Rather than one big one that rears small that refuses

Ah... sure.

A Ulysses-type ban:

I just noticed today, "Hey! The CunningStunt is gone!! Where/why did he go??"

So I'm glad you mentioned this in answer to someone's question. I hope he hasn't defected to another site permanently. :( Traitor.

;)

right-track 03-16-2011 02:37 PM

I doubt it.
He probably suffered from overexposure of his own banality, or that of others.
Most likely a mixture of both.

crash_override 03-17-2011 05:30 AM

When someone is banned....

What happens to their internet soul?

Does it go to god?

Is god real?

What's god like?

How are babies made?

I think you can only be certain of the answers to most of these questions once you yourself are banned, crash, and maybe not even then...although for the sake of you and your many paramours, I hope you know the answer to the last one! :p:

I *do* know, though, that at least one banned internet soul went to MuzicForums! Perhaps that's hell. ;)

Hey I was banned once. Granted, it was part of boo boo's mad banning spree, but it felt pretty terrible.

I forgot about that...not boo boo's banning spree, but the fact that your head was one to roll. I emerged unscathed. :D

I imagine that being shunned from the Garden of MusicBanter would feel ****ty. That's why I care when people get banned. I don't want them to suffer the sadness of banishment, especially not banishment f.o.r.e.v.e.r.

Forever is such a long time. Luckily for you, you got resurrected fast! :)

That would certainly be consistent with this:
