No matter what he could have said things that people like OH have said in the past still fall under the umbrella of "personal attacks" and other inflammatory remarks. [MERIT]'s ban was really warranted Windsock. I wouldn't say that lightly cause I actually like him, I guess because I feel like underneath all this he's not unkind (which is why I tried to appeal to his empathy. It didn't work). Whether the mods are biased is another point, I haven't been here long enough to have a sensible opinion on that.

People never really cared when Merit's buttons got pushed. So I find it ironic about telling him there are limits, when no one here practices limits. I didn't care to see him get tease over the situation with his son. I felt that was off limits. I was hoping that he asked for a banned and not did do anything offensive or seemingly offensive or was made out to be more offensive than it actually was. I do not exactly known exactly what he did or what he said that got him banned so I can't make a judgment about the situation one way or the other.

I did an internet search for "PRIDE 17" to find an image of it to post and, due to how the search algorithms work, the results that came up were pretty much all related to gay pride [rainbows, flags, parades, etc.]. I went on to address the libelous and erroneous claims of homophobia that were thrown at me, saying that as long as the parties are of legal age, mentally-capable and consenting, then I 100% support their right to have sex with whomever they please. I further addressed the slanderous claims of antisemitism, saying that I support the right for ANYONE to practice ANY belief system that they choose, as long as it doesn't infringe on the freedoms of others. I then expressed that I felt that any religion which believes that its members are superior to the rest of society is wrong in my opinion, BUT still has the right to exist and practice their beliefs. I think it's more of a matter of being able to trash on fellow MBers, but when you start targeting a whole demographic with hate, that's where the line is drawn. I can call Batty a faggot in good fun, not condemning any perceived homosexual behavior or tendency in him. We've both got history here, we're both regulars. But if I then turned around and started a diatribe about the homosexual agenda and how it's destroying America, then I'd get a well-deserved ban.

If Batty jokes about me beating my children (as he often does), it's no big deal. But if he then makes a serious post about condoning child abuse and domestic violence, he'd get banned. And he'd deserve it.

btw @[MERIT]'s email: saying that I talked about 'equating homosexuality with necrophilia' is losing the nuance a bit. By bringing necrophilia into an argument about homosexuality one sort of implies a comparison between the two (comparing, not necessarily equating) which I think is in bad taste

For the record: I think the mods are both too lenient on certain posters when tempers flare, and maybe overdid it on Merit a bit, even though a ban was warranted imo. Six months? Well... I don't know about that. He holds some problematic views, but it seems people are unable to argue with them and instead just throw **** at him. But that's MB arguments for you. He's wrong. He's over the line. But he didn't wave a gun around and certain other posters are not getting nearly the ban hammer action they deserve, so it's clearly ideologically skewed. The only comment that I'd consider ehhhhh was when he was saying he didn't care what someone's sexual preferences were but didn't like the parading it around and mentioned necrophiliacs. So it wasn't the sentiment that's the problem, but just the mentioning of something actually disgusting like that was awkward and I can understand why some homosexuals would take offense to that. I think it would've gone over better had he just mentioned polygamists.

He has a history of saying terrible **** about Jews and gays and other minority groups. And unlike some of the other stuff people say here, he meant it.
When he was reprimanded for a somewhat homophobic remark, he reacted by not only doubling down, but by attacking me in a distinctly antisemitic way.
