haha....................

I love Sigur Ros and their best album is ()

=ladyface= 10-15-2007 05:31 AM

Yeah, ( ) is my favourite as well. It's been really nice to see this band explode over the past 4 or 5 years. I thank the BBC for that in the UK. :p:

Hvarf-Heim is out next month, people. Thoughts? For the benefit of those unaware of this new CD, it's basically a double album with unreleased goodies and acoustic versions of the songs we already know.

If I'm honest, I won't be rushing out to buy this. I'll be waiting until it's £5.

jackhammer 10-15-2007 02:08 PM

I like them, but they are so ambient I have trouble remembering some tracks.

=ladyface= 10-15-2007 02:09 PM

For the first couple of listens the whole middle section of ( ) disappeared completely from my memory. The first and last tracks made an immediate impact though.

Same here

Nice background music but not the sort of band i'd choose a single song to listen to

Pitchfork: Sigur Ros Working on New Album With Flood

Zer0 11-15-2007 02:19 AM

I love Sigur Ros :hphones: best way to listen to them is to put on a big pair of headphones and drift away. Best album is '()' every track is just beautiful. Background music?? Blaaghh

Night_Lamp 11-15-2007 09:51 AM

() is beautiful. It feels like one track the way it flows. Some of their other albums have a great track or two, but on the whole don't stand up to ().

I agree 100% on headphones for the true experience. My favorite way to listen to any music is to smoke a few bowls, put on the headphones, lay on the carpet and close my eyes. That kind of immersion is what music is all about to me. Let the music take over...

That's probably because there is 36 seconds of silence seperating the two halves of the album.

cocaine white 11-18-2007 03:27 PM

() is my favorite tooooo.

i think i like it most because it's not in an actual language, so it can mean whatever i want it to.

and i don't like not knowing what they're saying in the other albums.

sleepy jack 05-27-2008 07:32 PM

What does everyone think of the new Animal Collective song?

adidasss 05-28-2008 04:12 AM

It has something to do with Sigur ros?

sleepy jack 05-28-2008 04:17 AM

MySpace.com - Sigur Ros - ReykjavÃ*k, IS - Visual - www.myspace.com/sigurros

New song sounds like animal collective, I was trying to be witty. :(

Sigur Rós

Edited my post because I tried to open a new thread. (I didn't know there was one already).

I was on their concert at Barcelona ten days ago, and it was completely amazing. I love all their albums, specially ( ) and Agaetis, and I missed some songs from them, but the truth is that the songs from the last cds are also awesome, and much more at the concert.

If you have the chance to see them, you shouldn't miss it.

P.S.: I'm spanish and I might make mistakes writing in English.

dac 11-24-2008 07:52 AM

Not enough love for Sigur Ros on MB.

Alongside Radiohead and Floyd, they're my biggest influence without question. I love their work thoroughly. I've never actually heard something by them I haven't liked. ( ) is my favorite album of theirs, mostly because the first 3 tracks create 15 minutes of the most beautiful/melancholy music I've ever heard. Their newest album is really great too, I love how they started to go at things from a more acoustic type of approach.

Has anyone seen the film Heima? I have it, and have watched bits and pieces, but have yet to watch the whole thing through. It seems quite incredible though.

Aside from a few moments from the newest album I'd have to agree. Agaetis Byrjun is probably my favorite album from them, it really changed the course of what I'd listen to for the 3 months to follow my initial listening of it (Aka nothing but post rock).

Pornographie Nouveau 11-27-2008 11:40 AM

Takk's my favourite. I really need to get the newest one.

dac 11-27-2008 02:08 PM

The newest one leaves me confused often. Half of the time I'll listen to it and I'll be like "Another Masterpiece!" The other half I'll listen and be like "wtf is this sh*t?" Definitely worth checking out though.

Just got it. It's incredible. Easily the best music documentary I've ever seen. Unbelievable editing and it makes you feel so intimate with the band.

spark10036 11-30-2008 03:17 PM

it's a great film really.

I really liked the part where the make that concert at that abandoned factory.also liked the ending where they play Samskeyti's acoustic version.

I find is more of a documentary about Iceland as a country and it's people...they are a really interesting nation. they are like from another planet. I would really like to go there for holiday some day...

Pornographie Nouveau 11-30-2008 03:18 PM

I can only seem to like Takk. Everything else is forgettable in comparison.

spark10036 11-30-2008 03:31 PM

well have u listened to () on one play?

awesome

Very true, the imagery is incredible throughout. My favorite part was Popplagið and the part where the guy makes the instrument out of the rocks from the landslide.

spark10036 11-30-2008 04:33 PM

yeah I forgot about him. I saw it in august I think...

richardson 03-01-2009 04:11 PM

i love sigur ros. the first album i got was agaetis byrjun - maybe because it was the first one I listened to, it still stands as my absolute favorite. I also really like "myrkur" from von. I can't get into any of the albums after agaetis byrjun. I felt like they got really depressing and slow.

Only way to listen to it. Untitled 4 FTW

garbanzo 03-02-2009 01:22 AM

where is a good place to start? i only know Starálfur, but i like it very much.

Robotnik 03-02-2009 06:39 AM

Sigur Ros is a good band.

I've only heard Agaetis Byrjun, and it's great. Dreamy, ethereal yet beautiful music.

Download Takk and "()"

sweet_nothing 03-06-2009 03:27 PM

ok nvm what I said about the singers voice in the past. Ive been really getting into them lately and I'm amazed by his voice, its like an angel singing. I have ( ), Takk..., and Ágætis byrjun. Should I check out their first album? I read that it wasnt really that great and sorta popish, I havent hear theyre new album either because I also read it wasnt that great. Oh and Heima was a beautifully shot film.

My fav Songs:
Sé Lest
Untitled 1
Glósóli
Untitled 3
Vidrar vel til loftárása (Good Weather for Airstrikes)

WWWP 03-06-2009 03:28 PM

I only have () and I love it a lot. What should I get next?

Edit: Nevermind, I should have read the whole page.

garbanzo 03-06-2009 10:29 PM

i stopped being silly and just got them all. good stuff. it's taking forever to properly tag it in foobar though :)

I knew you'd come around. Pretty much everything they've done is at least worth a listen, though the first and most recent albums will leave you running back to ().

sweet_nothing 03-08-2009 09:09 PM

Ive come to love Takk... more than ( ) actually.

Understandable... Takk is a lot more accessible compared to (), and probably their most accessible besides the newest one. It's a lot more song oriented.
