Couldn't have put it better myself. Writing off such a broad area of music which has been going and fleeting for a good 50-60 years (hell, maybe even longer than that) based on popular stereotypes is bad form.

I like country because it's one of the better genres for storytelling. However I really cannot stand the pop country songs that I hear on the radio, too safe and boring for me.

Is that so? You want musical clichés? I will give you a few I have heard.

Are you ready to Rock.
Classical music sounds the same.
They are only in it for the money.
Hip hop is about rapping women and Gangsters.
They can't play their instruments.
Dance music is repetitive.
Anyone can write a pop song.
This is the best audience I have ever played to.
They don't make music like they used to.
AC/DC have the word "rock" in 27 song titles? They made a cliché a career.

Look what happened because of Billie Ray Cyrus:
His daughter is taking over the world...
That's worse than suicide.

I like country because it's fun to get drunk to. It also reminds me of home when im far away.

I don't really like country, but that's no reason to not respect the musicians. I just don't enjoy it i'm not really sure why. but hey! to each their own

Why do I like country? For the guitars I guess. Even when they are shaped like pancakes and sound like child's play.

i like shootin my sick dogs and plowin fields spittin tobacco all over everything.

all the new stuff isn't worth liking. go back to twitty, cash, daniels, coe, jones, alan jackson, nelson, haggard, jennings. back to the good ol' days where all men didn't whine about everything. they liked it when **** went wrong. gave them something productive to write about.
