Protests in England about Trump :D
"This is an American election, why are you here?" "We are protesting because he's a racist, sexist, Islamaphobe" :D |
His decisions will be affecting the rest of the world ya know.

This arrived in the post - a calendar glorifying and celebrating the United States prison system.
Each month features a heavily-pixelated Google maps aerial snapshot of a different major prison. This year, get one for the person you love. http://i.imgur.com/5qHcB3Cl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/l39ycEDl.jpg |
That's kind of interesting.. but LOL.

Been tuned into the live feed of the march in Washington and in 59 other countries for most of the day. Currently watching the culmination of the march surrounding Trump Tower.
Reportedly as many as 600,000 in Washington, 200,000 in NYC, up to 750,000 in LA, (its largest in over a decade), and 100,000 in London... nearly 700 marches worldwide from Antarctica to Australia totaling an estimated 2.5 million people. The most impactful element of these protests is their commitment to unity and solidarity - joining the forces of institutionally-oppressed minorities - blacks, Hispanics, Muslims, immigrants, women, the elderly, the disabled... everyone who this administration has sworn to oppress and made it their mission to divide. That is their greatest strength and it gives me hope. Also: Sir Ian McKellen at the Women's Rally holding a Picard meme sign. https://i.imgur.com/epv9w7Q.jpg |
How many people actually live between Antarctica and Australia?

Perhaps you were being facetious, but regardless I felt compelled to respond. As far as numbers - another noteworthy city would be Portland, OR with a participatory figure of 100,000 protestors. |
But who's marching between Antarctica and Australia? Tasmanians?

Bristol cops use Taser on their race relations adviser - NY Daily News
I guess he isn't doing such a good job at race relations. In the US he would have died most likely. |
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS GARBAGE?!

Wow finally something that would actually make me get into buying records. I love that.
Technology is a wonderful thing. The only drawback is I'm not sure I want to get into collecting records and have them taking up valuable space. |

Then on to the product - from what we can see on the official site, the device uses a tiny proprietary stylus which looks about on-par with the 89t 911 needle found in Fisher Price record players from '81. No anti-skate, no adjustable tracking force... and the entire unit is a giant glossy jellybean of a headshell sandwiching your record between it and a thin plastic disc for a base. Vibration transfer is going to be an absolute nightmare, and the needle will likely destroy any record it touches. Crosley - you may have met your match. |
Can you make journal where you just crap on modern tech? I genuinely think it would be amazing. Start with those little robot vacuums, smart grills, and smart refrigerators + their associated apps.

I'd like to know how modern condoms compare to antique prophylactics.

Ok that answers my last sleepy post.

There is what appears to be a shi**y proprietary stylus sticking out of the thing. You control it with your cell phone, and somehow you can skip tracks, (possibly with a laser detecting gaps between grooves.) Someone needs a good whack with a shovel for coming up with this crap. |
You can skip tracks? On vinyl? Unless they created the coolest software of a generation then I have to assume that that must be the most frustratingly unreliable feature of a generation.

i'm so tired of hearing about how awesome Sweden is and how superior they are to us. they definitely tend to have their own ****ed up issues.

It's often used as an example of how socialism can be successful and beneficial, but that's about all that comes to mind. Also the neutrality thing.

btw Qwerty that was a serious question as that's a bit surprising to me, I think a lot of people here just see Sweden as a laughing stock. |
