Yeah but it was never as palatable as when it went "alt-right". The alt-right (and the Tea Party before it) made it okay to lean fascist in polite society.

That makes me think that you've been called pretentious many times in the past and instead of actually thinking about how it applies to you you've instead warped it to be a derogative used by your opponent that has no meaning when in fact does.

Not really no. I mean have you met me? I'm a belligerent abrasive boor who uses profanity as punctuation. I spent much of my early years as a conservative, spent much of my 20s as a moderate who tried staying away from political discussions after becoming disgusted with my former conservative politics, and only in the last few years have become a pretentious liberal blowhard. I'm not elph. I don't have a history of being called pretentious. I just recognize that right wing ideology in many ways is anti-learning as things like science and philosophy are a threat to traditionalist views.
