Alec Baldwin kills woman by firing prop gun on film set of Rust
I really can't believe this news story. Apparently the American film industry needs help in solving this unsolvable problem of people getting killed by live rounds on set so I'm offering my advice for free: Whenever you have to use a prop gun that may or may not be filled with live rounds, instead of simply using it and trusting that most probably it doesn't have live rounds, shoot it into something other than a human being to check first. Every single time. There. Hundreds of lives saved. You're welcome. |
Bet Alec snuck the live round in there. He's like now watch me get away with murder.

This may be a stupid question but why would they use a loaded gun on a movie set to begin with anyway? |
Quote:
There are usually two kinds of rounds used on a movie set, blanks and dummy rounds. Blanks are rounds that have no projectile (the bullet) but still have gunpowder to produce the bang but nothing propelled forward. Dummies are rounds that have the projectile but have had either the primer struck, or no gunpowder, usually both. These are rounds made to "look" real say in a chamber of a revolver during a close up of the gun. Mistakes are made when somebody mixes up these methods. That's what happened with Brandon Lee. They accidentally left a bullet in the chamber and inserted blanks and when they fired the blank, the bullet that was lodged in the barrel shot out and killed Lee. They don't know for sure what happened with Baldwin yet, but it's mostly something careless like described above. Or, they brought real live rounds on set. That isn't impossible either. |

All right, admittedly I'm thick as ****e, but I don't get it with Batty's picture. Seems to be a guy maybe getting sick at the side of the road (bending over, looking down, something anyway) while a car flies by. What's so sick about that. Explain to the oldie please and use small words you can still find in the OED.

Is this ****ing serious???
News Alert: Facebook changes its company name to Meta Facebook is changing its company name to Meta as it confronts wide-ranging scrutiny of the real-world harms from its various platforms after a whistleblower leaked hundreds of internal documents. The change will demote Facebook's namesake service to being just one of the company's subsidiaries, alongside Instagram and WhatsApp, rather than the overarching brand. A rebranding could be part of an effort to overhaul Facebook's reputation and turn the page following a series of PR nightmares, including misinformation on its platforms, content moderation failures and revelations about the negative effect its products have on some users' mental health. They think that by changing their name everyone is going to be fooled and forget all the **** they've been accused of? Un-****ing-believable! |
Tbh most people are so glazed over by their society not caring whether they live or die this sounds like an overreaction.
|
I dunno, the right seems to think that Facebook censors too much and the left seems to think they don't censor enough. In my eyes, this would mean that they're right on the money in terms of how they handle content control and censorship.
As for their scandals and misuse of personal data though, I can't defend that. They are delving deep into the VR space and I think they're betting on that being a big financial success but I suppose we'll see. It certainly seems like a smart move to me. |
That is some absolute dip**** logic that only works if you're too lazy to have actual standards. I mean Facebook has literally contributed to genocide and actively refrains from stopping conspiracy theories for the sake of upping engagement. If you think that's just right then you're a ****ing moron.
