Father Benedict Groeschel, American Friar, Claims Teens Seduce Priests In Some Sex Abuse Cases

Quote:

"People have this picture in their minds of a person planning to — a psychopath," Groeschel said. "But that’s not the case. Suppose you have a man having a nervous breakdown, and a youngster comes after him. A lot of the cases, the youngster — 14, 16, 18 — is the seducer."

Pressed for clarification, the New York State-based religious leader explained that kids looking for father figures might be drawn to priests to fill a hole.
I don't even know what to say about the choice of words here.

No, the fish actually has a penis on the underside of it's head. Like, a functioning penis with which to do his dirty business.

Yes, the choice of words  -- and what he says in the article is revolting. And he's a "professor of pastoral psychology". Heaven help us all.

The priest who officiated at my wedding was subsequently found to be molesting boys at the rectory. This was not disclosed to parishioners and he was then transferred to a very poor parish, where he molested boys again. I guess the bishop thought it was OK to put the poor kids at the "underprivileged" church at risk. Unbelievable.

It really is. The man sounds like he just arrived here in a time machine from the dark ages.

Yikes. That's terrible! Unfortunately I think the whole is issue of transferring problem priests to areas where people are less likely to speak up seems to be pretty common. My in-laws, who are Jamaican, have a lot of stories about overly touchy-feely American priests who were transferred down there after getting in hot water in the US. Presumably the church is okay with a little abuse as long as it's in a small third world country where the victims have very little recourse. Disturbing stuff.

Looks like he did too.

And this...

Quote:

Furthermore, Groeschel expressed a belief that most of these "relationships" are heterosexual in nature, and that historically sexual relationships between men and boys have not been thought of as crimes.

"If you go back 10 or 15 years ago with different sexual difficulties — except for rape or violence — it was very rarely brought as a civil crime. Nobody thought of it that way... And I’m inclined to think, on [a priest's] first offense, they should not go to jail because their intention was not committing a crime."
...sounds like someone has a few secrets of his own.

I heard the Chinese are passionate about karaoke, but this is ridiculous...

The Batlord 09-05-2012 09:06 AM

I realize this is serious, but still...

Quote:

Other karaoke massacres have taken place in the Philippines, where the Frank Sinatra song "My Way" has had to be removed from many songbooks after sub-standard renditions provoked a string of killings.

In Thailand, meanwhile, a man shot eight of his neighbours, including his brother-in-law, after tiring of their tuneless reprisals of John Denver's "Country Roads".

In the United States, a woman punched a man for continuing to sing Coldplay's "Yellow" after she had told him he was not up to the task.
...

Howard the Duck 09-05-2012 09:56 PM

i had a neighbour who used to sing karaoke at top volume nearly every night

i would have killed him, if there were no consequences

I think the right side is Richard Dawkins. I've been wondering who the woman on the left is though.

World’s richest woman suggests $2 a day wages for Australian miners | The Raw Story

My wife was telling me about this last night. This woman should be stripped of all her wealth and property, be forced to live in a leaky shack and work in a coal mine for $2 a day. Assuming she can fit through the entrance of the mine of course.

This woman is a disgrace. Her remarks about African workers being willing to work for $2 a day are borderline racist as well.

I read a little more about her since I posted that comment and learned that, not only is she a terrible person, but she's not even self-made. Her father was one of the wealthiest men in Australia. And he wasn't self-made either, he came from one of the oldest landowning families in whatever state he's from.

x2. And I can’t believe how many people in the US I’ve heard saying the filmmaker should be brought up on charges. The man may be an asshole for making the movie, but freedom of speech is one of the pillars of American society. The blood is definitely on the hands of the people who, you know, actually killed other people over a movie.

The leaders of those countries too put out statements which makes one want to vomit:

Check out the croonies from the muslim brotherhood as well as the afghan government on what they had to say! These guys want to criminalize any criticism of Mohammad and/or the Koran. Indeed, here's a video:

It looks like after a while, even the guards were like "fuck it guys, do what you want". Makes you wonder, why even have diplomatic relations with the genocidal government of Sudan.

Plus, some investigations reveal that the filmmaker might not even be a Jew, nor an Israeli. I saw the 13 minute clip and it bored the tits out of me. Closed it like after 8 minutes through. But I nonetheless find it preposterous that the filmmaker should be the one in question.

Idiots, they got off easy just being tear gased. Should have just opened fire on their ass!! They wouldnt be so quick to throw a lil hissy fit over some petty anti islam film then. Have people not figured out America is not the country to mess with in any form or fashion? Directly or indirectly? This is the only kind of thing that worries me about the upcoming election. I could really care less cause both parties are repulsive, but what about when we need to react to something of this nature. If it were to escalate and rapidly. I would tend to lean towards the repulican side to initiate retaliation lot quicker than I would the latter. Who more than likely would just want to somehow resolve the situation by talking it out and throwing up peace signs.
I say withdraw our troops and diplomats and cut off any kind of aid or funding!!
