Yeah, no stitches for a baby, either.

Just wondered.

ladyislingering 12-27-2014 08:21 PM

Isn't it true that children typically heal from incisions a lot faster than adults? Plus their body temperature is a lot different, so maybe that effects their sensation a little bit. I don't know, it seems counterproductive for an adult, who has been thoroughly conditioned to avoid pain at all costs (specifically in the dick region) to suddenly make a decision like that, when it could have been done as a baby with pretty much no trouble at all.

This thread is a mind blower.

There are no nerves in the umbilical cord.

Unless you've been through an adult circumcision, why choose to give them the option?

Zhanteimi 12-27-2014 08:24 PM

Every parent has to make this decision for himself. I respect Christian's choice, since it is an amoral choice.

Says who? Jab your finger into your belly button and get back to me. Super sensitive region, nerves or not.

Lil nailed it. Just get it the f*ck out of the way early on. I'd hate my parents to death if they hadn't and I'd had to go through it as an adult.

I'd be upset with my mother if she had me circumcised and there are plenty of other people who would've been or are. And this is coming from someone who doesn't even really like having a penis.

Science.

Your lack of familiarity with anatomy is frightening. You realize nerves are necessary to feel stimuli, right?

Cos I think it should be their choice as it's their body. Can't see how anyone could disagree with that.

There are no strong arguments to do it tbh.

Zhanteimi 12-27-2014 08:31 PM

There are no strong arguments for refraining from having it done. In my opinion.

Duh. Have you jabbed yourself in the belly button yet?

A newborn baby doesn't feel sh*t.

DwnWthVwls 12-27-2014 08:34 PM

I think cultural tradition is a strong argument for it and giving the person the right to decide how they want to modify there body is a legitimate argument against it. I'm surprised to see the discussion get this deep over some foreskin. I mean I have an opinion about it but I don't actually care.

No one touched on my comment about parents deciding the sex of intersex children at birth. I'm curious what everyone has to say about that.

ladyislingering 12-27-2014 08:35 PM

Honestly I think the concerns are mostly cosmetic. Uncircumcized dicks are pretty weird-looking.

This entire discussion is making me really glad that I'm never having kids because having a child who is assigned male at birth just seems like such a burden (I won't say 'having a little boy' because not every kid born with a penis is gonna grow up to be a boy, just sayin').

Yeah, they do. Because they have nerves. Like I said, you just don't remember it. You biologically can't remember it because you're brain isn't developed to a point where it's capable of creating memories. And yes, I've jabbed my belly button. It was not that bad. Not nearly as bad as what I imagine my dick would feel like the day after having the foreskin removed. But again, as a baby you wouldn't remember the feeling. You'd grow up with a circumcised penis whether that's what you wanted or not.

DwnWthVwls 12-27-2014 09:17 PM

Literally just saw a commercial for this on TBS.

I'm not surprised but I'm happy to know my skepticism was legit. Same for all those commercials to raise money for the poor children in Africa. I'd rather go there and make a difference for a couple days than donate to these untrustworthy commercials.

Millions, probably billions of men the world over are not circumcised, and are not forced later in life to have their dick chopped.

A non-circumcised penis has many more nerve endings than a circumcised one. I think better nut busting is a pretty good reason to hold off.

No big deal.

So, why don't we just cut the tip off of every child's left pinky toe? Just the very tip. Not as far as the bone.

No big deal.

GuD 12-27-2014 09:31 PM

Millions, probably billions of people the world over have had that little piece of skin removed upon reaching adulthood and regretted it. It's subjective which is preferable and to force the decision on somebody is imo, as you might have guessed, morally questionable.

There is cultural tradition and hygienic reasoning behind circumcision. That's a poor counter argument.

Weird thread.

Cuthbert 12-27-2014 09:54 PM

Re: the cultural thing, there's no real point to this post but I'll post it anyway. I've got a mate who's parents are Turkish. When he was about 8/9 years old they took him to an Imam's house and when he realised what was going on he tried to escape, got caught then held down and circumcised. They filmed it as well. After it was done they showered him with money and gifts.

Says the next few weeks were spent trying to pull the stitches out at night as it hurt so much. That's pretty fucked up imo.

I dunno how true it is but I've seen women argue it's better for them as well.

I haven't seen any convincing evidence that circumcision has any real benefits to hygiene. And why is cultural tradition a valid reason?

Circumcision - Penile Hygiene

Seriously? Do you guys even bother to look before you make claims? I'm on your side but I'm not gonna sit here and deny facts.

And to answer your culture question Batlord, it isn't for me, but some people highly value that stuff to the point of it skewing their morality.

Circumcision should only be legal when a man voluntarily says he wants to be circumcised. Under any other situation, I think it's immoral.

By all means, don't circumcise your newborn boy. Good for you! High five.

GuD 12-27-2014 10:09 PM

Yeah...

These are issues for people who don't know how to bathe themselves. Or can't.

It takes like 20 seconds to clean your bellend.

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-27-2014 10:12 PM

If circumcision is so much about prevention of health issues why do they not remove the appendix or tonsils at birth as well?

Idk the stats on it but of all the people I know personally none have had tonsil problems and only 1 has had their appendix removed. As opposed to anyone who is uncircumcised that must take extra precautions to care for themselves. Also, I think it's mostly done for cultural/religious reasons while tonsils/appendix have nothing to do with either.

GuD 12-27-2014 10:16 PM

Parents who are too douchy to take care of their children's genitals and teach them to take care of their genitals when they come of age probably aren't putting much if any thought into circumcision. You guys are acting like it's so much of a hassle that it necessitates removal. And that it's mostly only Jewish people who this concerns.

The bottom line is, imo, it's an invasion of a person's right to have a body that they're comfortable with. It's an irreversible procedure and there are people out there who have been circumcised and wish they hadn't been. Nobody has the right to force someone to have a body they don't or may not end up wanting to have. How is that not the end of this discussion?
