While I do agree with your statement I think it's only true if those people are coming to your area/country and spreading disease. If someone goes out of their way to go to a place running rampant with disease than it is their fault.

You don't go into a lion's den and blame the lion for f*cking you up. Like it or not sometimes you're not welcome, accept it and move along.
But people within their populace are needlessly dying because of these practices. Plus miseducation has a lot of people denying treatment (and 'liberating' hospitals because they've never seen Ebola, therefore it doesn't exist. That's seriously a mindset down there). I put it in the same box as antivaxxers because of its widespread public effect. So I think it's a big issue even if that given area is quarantined from the rest of the world because of the repercussions that the people are bringing on themselves, often times without even know if it.

I get it but that doesn't change my ideas about not getting involved. I don't feel any obligation to push my beliefs on a culture I know nothing about. Maybe if I read more about what's going on over there I could agree with you, but I am way to naive to be making that kind of decision.

I agree in general, but when people are attacking hospitals rather than seeking treatment for ****ing ebola, there is clearly something wrong with their world view.

one of the nurses who contracted ebola in texas flew on a plane with 132 passengers on it two days after she performed surgery though still feeling normal.

planes the most congested, compact recycled air space ever

Sorry for the cruelty, but I ****in hate that people are always jumping to 'help' third world countries. Let them develop on their ****in own and save that money for the space race. Honestly, that should be every civilized, intelligent society's main priority IMO. Better spaceships and better understanding of the cosmos. For the species.
I don't know this dude, surely this is sarcastic dribble?

It's not right to blame any party in this situation. It's a highly contagious virus that health care professionals seem to be incredibly unfamiliar with in practice. Also, like Sparky said, symptoms don't show up immediately. In hindsight, no, the nurse probably shouldn't have been on a plane after close (but presumably safe and controlled) contact with a patient, but apparently no one told her not to fly. It's not like there's some kind of specialized ebola clinic/council in the U.S. giving advice on the issue, unless I'm mistaken.

Ebola is only contagious if the person infected is showing the symptoms (in contagious state). If they are infected but not in the "contagious state" they can not transmit it. Also, it is only transmitted through bodily fluids, open wounds etc. It is not an air bourne disease. The nurse is actually being sent to a hospital in Maryland. I live in Maryland so it will probably be very chaotic around here when she comes some time tonight.

It is important for people to become educated on it instead of relying on the sensational media that seems to only want to scare people. It is a deadly disease if it goes without treatment (but there is treatment for it in America) and there are ways that people can prevent transmission and the media is sensationalizing the way it can be transmitted.

I think that this new epidemic is heartbreaking and I think more people should care. A lot of times people never think things will happen to them or their loved ones but when something devastating does happen all of a sudden it matters to them. It shouldn't have to take that for people to care. I think that is what is wrong with this world now. We need to start caring and loving one another. I think we should try to help the people in Africa if we can. We have the medicine so why not help them since this is beginning to be a problem in America anyway?

Very revealing video which shows how the nurses in Texas may have gotten infected.

I haven't been following the details of Ebola that much but your paragraph is spot on. The media sensationalizing everything overblows the actual facts of the disease, leaving people in ignorance of the actual facts about the disease. I remember how the media here in the UK acted with Aids in the UK in the 1980s, they had people believing it could be caught from touch etc
