^ Reminds me of a very pertinent point made by John Oliver about the entire original question of leaving Europe: he said the politicians should never have put it to public vote. He made a comparison to an appendix operation: as a patient you pay the doctor for his expert judgement, and it'd be unnerving if the surgeon came to your bedside and said, "Well, what do you think? I could go either way on this. Do you want it in or out?"

It's about right Lisna. It's a good job we have a strong and stable government in charge or this could be a mess.

Jeremy Corbyn is going to put forward a second vote of no confidence if (when) May's deal is rejected on Wednesday.

^ HaHa! Very good! The problem is that Wednesday's vote is March 20 and the EU summit is March 21 & 22, so Corbyn's vote might just be about who will be in charge after the EU has booted us out without a deal. Not intending to sound dramatic, but imo it's like squabbling about who's going to drive when your car is already plunging over a cliff.

Isn't that the point of Brexit, they see the EU as an inflamed appendix ready to burst and they want it out of their lives?

Pretty straight forward

^ Yes, some see it that way, but some don't.
Original Referendum results: 51.9% Leave to 48.1% Remain, so that was a 3.8% victory for Brexiteers. Apparently though, after three years of ineffectual negotiating and mounting concern, a lot of people are regretting their Leave votes. This chart (in the All Adults line) suggests that opinions have shifted significantly towards Remain:-

I'm not sure how current this chart is, but it gives some idea of how complex the options are becoming. This chart is indicative of the current self-obsessed British political viewpoint and it only shows what the Brits are trying to decide among themselves. They are planning yet another vote on Wednesday, but may find that on the Thursday, Brussels will be boot them out without a deal whether they like it or not.

Yeah

The UK wants their cake and to eat it too

Tough ****

It’s hilarious that people are basically saying why should we be beholden to some crazy **** we voted for three years ago.

Democracy! Lulzzz

The U.K. must really want some outright anarchy at this point. Least that's the impression I get when I see May on video.

But what’s she supposed to do? A referendum passed. Isn’t she duty bound to see that it’s implemented?

Up until the deal was agreed then sure. Now that it has been and voted down twice, there is no reason not to ask the British public if they still want to go ahead with it given everything that has came out since the vote. May's deal, no deal or no Brexit. You can't say fairer than that.

OccultHawk 03-20-2019 07:11 PM

The referendum didn’t say it was contingent on a deal.

The U.K. already gave their two weeks notice 13 days ago. It’s a bit late to try negotiate a severance package.
