From the AP

Quote:

About 200 miles of levees were compromised — either breached or overtopped — in four states, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said. Even in places where the water level peaked in those states — Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri and Kansas — the current was fast and the water so high that damage continued to pile up. The flooding was blamed for at least three deaths.

“The levees are busted and we aren’t even into the wet season when the rivers run high,” said Tom Bullock, the emergency management director for Missouri’s Holt County.

Kind of an odd study, but the implications are interesting.

The NY Times is getting more and more aggressive about defending their paywall.

He gets the most votes so he has the most power. And I’m supposed to be thankful that I live in a democracy.

Democracy is fine. People are the problem.

I guess I was just boiling it down to democracy being a form of decision making, and we dont necessarily need people to make decisions democratically.

but indeed wow that guy is a dumbass

He’s one of 100 senators and he was elected by a majority. There’s nothing fringe about him. He’s what democracy puts in power. Literally and indisputably. There he is.

Why are you so thick headed about trying to make democracy mean what you want to mean instead of what it really is right there in our faces?
