It's like there's an undercurrent of "This is dip**** centrist bull**** that won't work" to this piece but they're centrist dip****s so they still have to halfway cheerlead it.

These are points he snuck in:

* It’s only a partial fix
* It would take decades
* It would take as much land presently occupied by the United States
* OVER POPULATION IS MAJOR PROBLEM
* The forests would have to remain unmolested until they’re are old growth
* We are presently in a major mass extinction

He definitely had an upbeat optimistic tone but the subtext was a rock solid: We’re ****ed!

I think those people know full well their audience will skip over the subtext and make sure to make an Arbor Day post on Facebook.
