I’m not worried about the apocalypse; I’m worried about not being able to evacuate. $1000 is enough to roll out. $150 isn’t. Global Warming down here means hurricanes. When a Cat 5 is two days out $1000 beats a Green New Deal

The answer to global warming is technology. Clean energy and carbon trapping technology. When we needed the a bomb, we got a bunch of scientists in a room, threw funding at them and said figure it out. When we wanted to go to the moon before the Ruskies, we did the same.

We could solve the problem if it were a priority. Problem is it's not at all a priority for Republicans and Democrats are more obsessed with stupid **** like carbon taxing and trying to hurt oil companies.

If you take the forecasts of the climate scientists seriously, this just isn't gonna work. Like Yang mentioned penalizing emissions in the states does nothing to stop China. It's an all or nothing issue. Either we to replace the current infrastructure with something that other countries would be eager to adopt, or you might as well just search for high ground

Interestingly enough, short term climate change will benefit Russia and so they are not only not fighting to stop it, but eagerly awaiting it.

the US however is making harder to get a global deal to reduce

saying we're too late sounds like a blank check to go ahead and pollute as well, I hate this answer

there's been so many global deals. They don't work. Energy is so vital to every economy that those deals are nothing more than virtue signalling.

Yeah. I personally don’t think it’s possible to transition from fossil fuel without a massive die off. It’s the exploitation of millions of years of stored solar energy that made the population explosion possible in the first place.

And if you’re not even discussing nuclear power it’s not even an honest conversation from the get-go.

Today’s the first of the month. If the cat five was 100 miles out I’d have the cash in hand.

we should be investing in renewable energy as well as looking to make serious cuts in emissions

renewable energy would lead to serious cuts in emissions, but we are at the point where we need carbon trapping technology to offset the damage already done

Carbon taxing is ineffective and does nothing other that slow the economy.

I think we can probably do so, assuming there is a good affordable alternative to fossil fuels

Nuclear is a better alternative to fossil fuels but long term we need something better, unless someone comes up with a better plan for dealing with the waste

I would've thought the anarchist in you would just view a hurricane as a good looting opportunity.
