I've heard Israel is cozying up to some far right wing types throughout the world.

Yeah it's interesting and it always amuses me when the idea of public opinion influences policy even when public opinion amounts to nothing more than people at home who don't know anything screwing up their face and going "I don't like that" and nothing more. If the American public had no place in government decisions then there would be no talk of sanctions and real politik would proceed in at least a relatively consistent manner. But people who claim to care while not actually caring are probably about to tank the economy of people they definitely don't care about while American policy just a week ago implied the exact opposite position (a position which was presumably also influenced or at least justified by public opinion of not wanting to be involved in more Middle Eastern wars).

Democracy is stupid.

well, I think the idea if restraint in warfare actually relies more on international opinion than the domestic opinion of Americans. It's easy to rally a single nation behind a war, compared to justifying war crimes that benefit your nation at the expense of others to an international body like the UN.

when I said Nazi I was referring to the actual third Reich. Not just any right wing element that liberals will label Nazi for knee jerk reasons.

Popeyes 'chicken war' sparks chaos, employee frustration: 'Somebody called me Mr. Slowa--'

Quote:

Somebody called me Mr. Slowa--. I’m not stupid. I heard it,” the employee said to someone off-camera, looking very upset.

The bullying did not end there, however. One Popeyes employee claimed to Business Insider that he worked an 11-hour shift and made 600 sandwiches in one day.

"I was working like a slave in the back prepping the buns with pickles and the spicy mayo," said Carlos, an 18-year-old Popeyes crew member in California.

"Everyone wanted to quit so bad because it was that bad," Carlos added. "We have never seen it get this insanely busy."

According to data from analytics platform, Placer.ai, traffic to Popeyes skyrocketed on August 20 and 21 – rising 67.6 percent and 103.3 percent over the same dates in 2018.

I mean international opinion and domestic American opinions are equally as stupid and useless and cause democracy to be stupid and useless. When you see, read, or hear analysis of government policy it often interweaves purely pragmatic government decisions and government decisions based on public opinion as if one does not influence the other in nonsensical and schizophrenic ways because modern commentators are generally pro-democracy and pointing out that this spiral of nonsense is in fact nonsense would be admitting an existential problem with democracy.

Well in Western nations the far right tend to be anti-Semitic regardless of whether it's logical for them to be.

That’s the one thing the far right and the far left and moderates all agree on. Israel shouldn’t do what it has to do to exist. If this whole **** that they should sit idly by while Hamas & Hezbollah or whoever blow up their **** and mass murder them week after week isn’t antisemitism then nothing is.

How do we hold on to these contributions that the world would be so much more boring, among other things, if it weren’t for black people? How do we hold on to those and also let go of our race?

I think I do it every day. I still go home and I’ll listen to Gunna or Lil Baby and that’ll feel culturally relevant to me. I’ll listen to John Coltrane. I’ll see something that’s familiar to me in even black British writer like Zadie Smith or I’ll look at Kerry James Marshall paintings and I’ll notice his blackness there, but I don’t think I have to believe it’s a biological reality. There was a community of people that went through certain experiences and circumstances over the course of a period of time in the new world and they created cultural traditions that many people who look like them upheld.

I'd heard Center of your Mind but didn't make the connection till much later. I really think being 12 in 1972 might have been about the perfect age/time to start learning guitar.

Don't like anyone for 2020.

Ahhh that makes sense. I forgot you’re even older than I am. So you heard Stranglehold basically right when it came out in 75. I still have one Amboy Dukes on vinyl. It’s a weird and maybe unofficial release. It’s Call of the Wild but it opens with Journey to the Center of the Mind. Don’t ask me how. They may have just added that track because nobody would buy Call of the Wild. I had no idea it wasn’t originally on that record. I bought it for that track that I heard on the radio.

Yup. Born in May 1960.
Fun fact: Physical Graffiti was the first vinyl album to get awarded platinum sales status on advance orders alone.

I was one of the million. Got it home and listened to all 4 sides straight through with a red light on and stoned out of my mind.

Hearing 'Kashmir' and 'In the Light' the first time............ :yikes:

Bill Taylor, acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, testified Tuesday as part of the House impeachment inquiry. Taylor’s detailed explanation of how U.S. military aid and the White House meeting that Ukraine’s president desired were both contingent upon investigations of President Trump’s Democratic rivals drew surprised gasps from the room. Yamiche Alcindor reports and joins Judy Woodruff to discuss.

McConnell goes public calling Trump a liar. And he's pushing a bill to
tie his hands on Syria.

He loses McConnell he loses the Senate majority.

I can’t believe her husband was abusive. You got a wife, cute, brings home another sexy woman, gets high, and she pays the bills.

She needs to lose the zero and get with this hero. I’d be treating that **** like GOLD, son. That’s some golden pussy right there.

Saw some interviews at a state fair deep in Trump country. A few blind defenders, some buying in to the 'secret testimony' BS, some copping out with the ole 'waste of taxpayer money', but a number saying along the lines of "I use to think they were out to get him, but everyone can't be lying like he says all the time".

He's toast in 2020. Took much longer than I expected, but buyers remorse is finally starting to creep into his base.

This is fun! :tramp::tramp::tramp:

See, a good portion of Trump's core base were parents to little kids. They can tell when someone's telling a fib.

Edit: This just in:
