This is an unprecedented situation. Nobody knows how it will pan out.

Sorta similar to how trump got elected.

I get the feeling he won't leave quietly, whether through impeachment or losing the election.

This will be something to see. I hope it finally puts our “democracy” to bed.

jwb 10-25-2019 05:39 PM

That's what I was hoping fot in the first place.. but now that I'm sober and the Democrats are trending towards a Sanders type platform, I don't feel that way.

A trump dictatorship scares the piss out of me. Especially given how incompetent he is at the basic job of leading.

If you’re happy with what America has to offer fine. I’m definitely not.

The Batlord 10-25-2019 05:47 PM

I mean I'm pretty sure everybody in the DOD ****ing hate him so if he tries something they'll probably hand Congress his head on a platter with garnish. Possibly literally.

Or they’ll continue to kiss his ass like the sorry ****ing cowards they’ve always been.

He hasn't really seized power on that kind of Hitlerian level for me to believe the military doesn't still have their own set of cojones they need to swing around to feel like big men.

It’s not the DOD but America’s legal system will arrest the people around him but not him for doing the same **** together. That same inability to reject the pecking order is also the only reason the military works. You have to be a coward to do the job.

The Batlord 10-25-2019 06:31 PM

Military's have historically been pro-asserting their own power though.

TBH liberal democracies keeping their militaries as bland bureaucracies without any aristocratic officers perhaps makes them a more subservient, middle class drone type of military. But I honestly don't know if that's just an illusion and the Joint Chiefs of Staff are legitimately a military junta one or two pacifist presidents away from being a reality.

When the damn breaks it's going to be tar and feather time in DC.

We just need a Chaerea to get things started.

'The people are one': Lebanese unite against political elite
Hundreds of thousands take to streets in the biggest protests in four days threatening the coalition government.

The Batlord 10-25-2019 08:45 PM

I agree tbh.. you're most likely right

I just think he's going to go out like scarface as opposed to Tommy from Goodfellas

Trump’s conservative picks will impact courts for decades

We’re gonna have to throw the whole thing out. It’ll take violence. It’ll be violent whatever happens

Lol like Trump would have the balls to take a stand. I can see him rallying his fans around him in the days leading up to him being removed but when it actually came time to do something with Congress standing up to him he'd meekly go out and then declare victory after the fact like he was betrayed and robbed of the opportunity to fight for the American people. He'd never be brave enough to start a fight he'd lose. Do you think he'd ever have started his rise to power with something like the Beer Hall Putsch? Say what you want about Hitler but he had far more balls than a pampered rich boy like Trump.

jwb 10-25-2019 09:46 PM

I think his narcissism is going to cause him to lash out irrationally, much like Tony.

OccultHawk 10-25-2019 09:47 PM

Hopefully

Or hopefully not

I've just realized how happy I am that Trump got elected in 2016. We'd be missing all of this fun.

If he'd lost he'd still be plastered all over the news all the time and screaming about how he was robbed. Wait, he won and he's doing that anyway.

He'd probably have had another stupid reality TV show we'd be subject to. Wait, we kind of have that now.

He'd would have let himself go kinda like Ben Stiller in Dodgeball?

Plus let's be real if Hillary got elected nobody would be talking about single payer, free college, UBI, etc

It was her losing to trump that made the Dems second guess the idea of sticking with middle of the road centrists as a safe bet. You have to give people a candidate they can actually get somewhat excited over.

OccultHawk 10-26-2019 09:20 AM

Plus Hillary would have us balls deep in Middle East bull****.

Anteater 10-26-2019 09:56 AM

It's kinda funny actually: without Trump you wouldn't have any support for Sanders and Warren in 2020. If Hillary had been elected they wouldn't even be on the ballot actually. Yang probably never would have tried running either.

Now, because Hillary lost, there's been a marked shift to the left in the Democratic primaries. They wouldn't seriously entertain ideas like single payer etc. They didn't really take Bernie seriously in 2016. Now they're forced to take him more serious and adapt to his vision of the Democratic party, while also trying to avoid actually nominating Sanders himself.

Frownland 10-26-2019 10:40 AM

Tfw you think a candidate is such a joke that you feel the need to rig the primaries in favour of the centrist candidate.

jwb 10-26-2019 03:49 PM

Cause he was drawing attention away from the anointed one.

Make no doubt about it... He was not going to win the nomination in 2016 regardless of how the DNC treated him. They just saw him as as spoiler candidate who would damage Clinton's momentum. Same reason they hated Jill Stein so much... Not that she had any actual chance at competing.

jwb 10-26-2019 05:04 PM

In what way did they"rig" it exactly? They were notably against him, as was the media, because they clearly favored Hillary and hev was literally the only other person running with any sizable support. But he never had enough juice to actually beat her.

jwb 10-26-2019 07:50 PM

How exactly did they rig it?

Chula Vista 10-26-2019 08:25 PM

In response to former chief of staff retired Marine General John Kelly writing that he warned Trump not to surround himself with 'yes' men:

Quote:

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham added, "I worked with John Kelly, and he was totally unequipped to handle the genius of our great President."

Do I even have to?

It feels like it's scripted at this point

I'm starting to actually believe in the illuminati/lizard people/Jewish overlords pulling the strings from behind the curtain.

Was telling Linda this morning that I think this whole "ISIS Leader Killed" thing making headlines this morning is totally staged by his puppet masters to deflect attention.

I never saw bin Laden’s corpse either. Seriously, I always had some doubt.

jwb 10-27-2019 12:54 PM

Same. I always found that fishy.

"We don't want people visiting his grave to pay tribute."

OK... So how about you just show us the corpse before you throw it in the ocean. The number 1 super power in the world and they're disposing of a body of a known enemy the way mobsters do. Yea this feels right.
