Absolutely. We're not scientists, and we don't know how this will go. Best to do what's right for the community ie world and let the eggheads worry about whether it's going to be good enough.

Got to wonder, if there'd been a vaccine for the Black Death would Steph and jwb's ancestors just boarded up their doors and said no thanks I'm too busy? Or I couldn't be bothered?

TBPF I do recognise the difference between jwb and Steph's take on why not to go for the shot - I proposed this very question in a thread before - but it's not up to us to decide when we should get it. Science is trying to protect everyone as best it can, so why not just let it do its job?

I'm pretty sure jwb understands that choice of phrasing has been tongue-in-cheek since its inception and that he isn't sensitive about it. No one is calling him radical, and I'm not down with the dramatic blood-on-hands narrative. But an almost equally dramatic opposite reaction won't do any good. I just think if scientists tell us to take this vaccine to help get rid of covid, then we should listen: this year has been terrible and I don't think we should take any risks; the vaccine will at least do some good, and I am worried the cumulative effect of lots of people refusing the vaccine may **** that up.

you have a point. If I see an opportunity I'll get one. Like I said I work a lot and am rarely awake or around during normal business hours + my transportation is limited. If it's as simple as going to the local Cvs then sure but if I have to go out of my way to go to some clinic or whatever... Not likely. Just being honest.

I think you still have to make an appointment and all but CVS is administering shots where I live. That could vary by state/county though.

honesty appreciated. I get your point and of course the vaccine should be made as accessible as possible, especially since not doing so will probably affect unprivileged people the most.

Tbh I was anticipating this response too.. I almost fell like I'm trolling for outrage but I'm not being insincere. That's how I actually navigate my day to day life. I look for loopholes and ways to cut corners or break the rules and get away with it and then feel like somehow I "win" because I'm getting the better end of the deal.

It's like I used to be a clepto. Sometimes I would steal to resell to make money but then sometimes I would d steal just cause I feel like it. Like my mentality was if you're not smart enough to stop me then that's your fault.

It gives me a feeling of power I guess. Or flexibility. More options for benefiting myself by ignoring rules and norms others take for granted.

It's like the classic scenario of a ton of cars lined up to turn in one lane and then one car just drives right up the moon turning lane and cuts in front of some sucker who is too slow or to passive to stop them. I don't blame the vast that cuts. I blame the sucker who lets them in.

And I guess I like pointing this out publicly so you all can get outraged at me and then I can second guess my decisions and recoup some semblance of a conscious.

It's not that I have no consideration for others... I don't like watching others suffer and will help to prevent that from happening. I guess my threshold is just lower.

And sure, like when you were talking about psychopaths recently, I don't think you have no empathy. Just some other conflicting temptations, and at least you're more honest about them than many other people with similar feelings.
