Default Dubstep vs. Electro

It seems everywhere I go recently I'm hearing that Dubstep is where it's at, so I looked it up...

United States:

Will someone please show me why Dubstep is so popular and post a decent mix. =/

That graph shows absolutely nothing without a legend.

Sorry.. Trance is blue, Electro is red, Dubstep is orange.

Schizo, I learned about Dubstep through MusicBanter, and I must say that I really love some of the songs because of the pulsing anger, the exciting viciousness, the heavy, sinister, ominous feeling of looming disaster, and the wild abandon of them. They feel like something is being destroyed.

Okay, I realize I must sound like a psycho killer now, but that may be nothing new!

I guess the songs appeal to the gleeful pessimist in me. I'll look through my old posts about Dubstep and see if I can scrounge up a few songs that I especially like so you can hear what I like about them.

I'm sure some of the electronica gurus on here (like Freebase) can make a great mix. I'd like to hear it, too!

Yeah same. I hear too much "I listen to proper Dubstep" crap, I'd like to see what people think really shape the genre, because I have no idea.

There's also the coolness factor, to be honest most of the people who I meet that tell me "I'm really into Dubstep" are saying it because they think it's a cool genre to be into. God knows why, but that seems to be the case. It quickly becomes evident they know nothing about it. I get the occasionaly "oh yeah that remix of In For The Kill" and that's it.

I got Skream's second album "Outside The Box" which I thought was pretty good!

Yeah, I'd love to see some video's people like. This is the closest I've found:

Still not entirely my thing, but I guess it's not bad. Anyone else got some stuff I'd like from this genre?

This is my favourite Skream track. I'm sorry I don't know you, so I don't know "what you might like" :P

That's actually not terrible, it's just pretty different. Thanks, anyone else? \

Burial seems to be the only dubstep that I can really get into. I wish there were more in the genre that are as good as he is, but unfortunately, in my opinion, no one even comes close:

@Satchmo: I got two minutes into that song and heard no drop, so I got bored and stopped. I think were listening to this stuff for entirely different reasons, but that's all right.

On the bright side, for those of you who like what I do in this genre, I finally found something a little closer to my electronic tastes... tell me what you think:
