I like this very much:-

it's sort of an overture to the entire album, also called Lifeforms

Such a shame to see the thread of one of my favourite genres become so neglected.

This band is awesome. Just got the album.

I'm a little genre-confused here, though. How does Chillout differ to Ambient?

Chillout is typified by mid-tempo beats and a mellow vibe. Ambient is more about the tones and textures in sounds arranged somewhat unobtrusively. They're related, chillout to a degree derives from ambient.

This is probably about as minimalist as they come.

Brian Eno - Neroli

The entire album is one track just under 58 minutes long.

(Edit: Well, that sucks. Looks like they pulled it from the Aus. iTunes store. Used to be able to buy the album for the price of the single track.)

LOL. At around 16 notes per minute Neroli will practically have you in a coma.

What Stu said but put more simply : chillout is usually based around dance beats and mood, not always; but generally.

Ambient is much more atmospheric and relies on textures of sound and doesn't always have beats in there.

Glad you are liking Underworld

From Here We Go Sublime by The Field - amazing minimal piece
Pop by Gas
The Last Resort by Trentemoller
Anything by Loscil
These are all really great.
Emeralds- "Does it Look Like I'm Here" is probably my favorite ambient album. This is ambient right?

I dunno if anyone has heard the latest Carbon Based Lifeforms album that came out last year (TwentyThree), but it's really great. It has a slower pace compared to past CBL albums like World of Sleepers and Hydroponic Garden, but still worth checking out.
