Skid Row and L.A. Guns w/ Firehouse in November. I'm not expecting great music but it's fun stuff, I kinda like L.A. Guns and the tickets are cheap.

Skid Row and L.A. Guns? :D Holy shit I didn't know either of them were still together/touring. More than likely together again, for money and all that. I remember getting my cassette of Cocked & Loaded autographed at a record store signing in 1989 or 1990. And Skid Row's Slave to the Grind was one of the first 2 CDs I ever purchased (of course I had the debut on cassette).

LoathsomePete 09-01-2010 11:43 AM

I think my next show is going to be Killing Joke in San Francisco in December. They are one of the few bands I will travel over 200 miles to see.

MOGWAI tickets - buy tickets for MOGWAI from Seetickets.com

The Newcastle Mogwai gig is at The Sage which is a concert hall. They also have a smaller gig room but I am hoping they are in one of the concert halls as the acoustics in there are simply tremendous.

Skid Row and L.A. Guns had hiatuses after grunge killed hair metal but they came back in the late 90s when their kind of music tolerated again. I only know 3 songs by FireHouse and never read up on them, so I don't know if they had a hiatus. I'm just hoping for some lulz when they perform. I mean I'm really into hair metal and think some of it is genuinely cool, but definitely not FireHouse. So you grew up with hair metal? What was it like when alternative rock took over and the fun stopped?

Fat Freddy's Drop next weekend (I'm sure I have mentioned it before!)

Supersonic Festival next month which includes Godflesh and Melt Banana sounds enticing but maybe too difficult to attend due to various things.

Other than that there is either:

Faithless or Dreadzone in B'ham in early december or a 3 band Thrash gig in Germany (Kreator, Death Angel & someone I can't remember) all happening over the Friday and Saturday so hopefully I can make at least one of these.

Oh man, i really want to go to Supersonic. Swans, Melt Banana and Napalm Death? Mmmhmm.

If you do go mate, check out a band called Bong and let me know what you think. They are really slow, Sleep-inspired, psychedelic, stoner/doom kinda stuff. I've been going to see them do the rounds in the pubs and clubs in Newcastle for a few years now.

downwardspiral 09-02-2010 03:31 AM

Yeah man I've heard lots of great things about The Sage. My friend who lives there for uni went to see Eels and Grizzly Bear there and said the venue is just spectacular.

I'm unsure whether to go yet, Manchester Academy is an absolute bomb of a venue and I just don't feel the need to see them again cos the first time was so good.

Mojo 09-02-2010 04:19 AM

The Sage is really a great place, yeah. The two concert halls are obviously all seater but for Mogwai, standing is really not important. They do have a gig room too with standing as well as seating but i really hope Mogwai play one of the concert halls as they are going to sound so good in one of those.

Just look at the place. How could it NOT be awesome?

oh that venue is beaut. shame newcastle as a whole is a complete anti-climax though.

Mojo 09-02-2010 04:30 AM

Well, as you know i'm not from Newcastle so no bias or anything. I'm from Sunderland and that place is a shithole but I disagree to be honest. I think its a great place and i'd like to live there.

downwardspiral 09-02-2010 11:07 AM

Oh it's not BAD or anything, just one of my friends lives there for Uni and he hyped it so badly and I visited and was like "..this it?". Mind you he's from Cumbria and there's balls all to do there so Newcastle probably does seem amazing in contrast.

I hate all of you, I haven't been to a concert in months. I bought tickets to see Defiance, Ohio on September 11 assuming I would be home on leave but as I still don't have orders it looks like I'll still be in Pensacola next weekend. And they're one of my favorite bands... I'm sure when I finally get home for a couple weeks I'll be able to catch some great shows though.

TheFolkslave 09-03-2010 07:56 AM

17.1.2011 Im going to see Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Tonight I'm seeing Built to Spill. I'm so excited

FETCHER. 09-03-2010 08:18 PM

I haven't got my stuff so I can pay the rest of my reunion ticket. I'm super ****ing worried.

Kaimon 09-03-2010 08:50 PM

Seeing Muse in September at the Staples Center with Passion Pit opening for them. I really want to see the Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation concert, but I don't have the money for a ticket :(....

Same. The added a second date a couple months after the first one was posted. Probably a good thing too. From what I saw, the first date sold out really quickly.

RVCA 09-04-2010 01:41 AM

I'm pretty sure I'm seeing Local Natives on the 20th... not 100% yet though

Telephasic 09-04-2010 04:42 AM

I'm seeing Modest Mouse this tuesday. Can't wait!

FETCHER. 09-04-2010 06:21 AM

I'm seriously contemplating buying a tiesto ticket... :)

Im very fortunate indeed since I never even imagined that they would come to Finland and I was prepared to go overseas to see them since they are propably my favorite band in the world, but now Im going to see them near my hometown :D

sidewinder 09-05-2010 08:25 PM

downwardspiral 09-07-2010 04:43 AM

Oh PLEEEEASE go and watch Scratch Perverts!!!! They're pretty much the only good act on that line up for me haha, they're incredible.

Also, each day I'm getting increasingly excited for these two events:

http://www.caughtinthecrossfire.com/...tellations.jpg

and

http://www.atpfestival.com/files/img...owliemmweb.jpg

Do still need to buy my tickets for the former though. Also I'm annoyed cos it clashes with Deftones @ Manchester Apollo, so I'm gonna need to go to a different Deftones date I think.

FETCHER. 09-07-2010 04:47 AM

I'm wanting a ticket for weekend two anyways. I'm going to spotify them and listen to some stuff. I really don't want to miss Example, Simon Patterson or Kutski. :(

downwardspiral 09-07-2010 04:49 AM

As if Westwood is there :( bottle him for me.

FETCHER. 09-07-2010 04:51 AM

The scouse is coming out of you now ;). I joke, I joke. I love scousers.
