Where is like, the thread for concerts you've been to/bands you've seen live? Surely, it exists. I just can't seem to find it.

emalvick 02-19-2013 02:32 PM

Medeski Martin and Wood in April. They're doing an all acoustic tour except for the date I am going to where they've billed it as all electric.

I'm not gonna lie, news of this caused a minor trouser malfunction.

I saw Om on Friday (2/15). Pretty mind blowing... mellow and dark.

I just found out Einstürzende Neubauten are playing tomorrow at Enmore Theatre.

Two smokin' hot guitar players are coming to my neck of the woods in a couple of months.
Junior Brown and Sonny Landreth.
Both of them also have fantastic songs and lyrics to go with their musical chops.
I've seen each of them before, but they are both so damn good I can't pass up a chance to see them again!

I spaced on this one dammit! The GF's cousin gave us a prepaid card loaded with $100, so I figured I better get up to the Rialto and buy the tickets. They sold out. Crap.

The card never expires, so we'll wait for someone good. Nothing worth going to on the billing right now.

Burning Down 02-27-2013 09:10 AM

I think I mentioned this somewhere else, but on March 9th I'm going to see my friend's band at the Hard Rock here, in the upstairs lounge. The best part is that she invited me as a VIP guest so I didn't have to pay for my ticket :) They are probably one of the best all-girl local bands in the area right now. I'm really excited!

Yeah, I've seen them twice before, and definitely agree that they're great live.

brandonskeie 03-01-2013 12:18 AM

Do you think Rihanna would be cool to see in concert?

I am TRYING to decide what concert to go to next...

It is either between

Demi Lovato
Rihanna
The Civil Wars
or
Justin Timberlake

What do you think?

[no self promotion please - mod]

misspoptart 03-01-2013 02:55 AM

Justin Timberlake puts on an excellent show. His production team has tons of money and tons of good ideas. You should definitely try to see him live, it will open up his music in a whole new way for you. And also, he is a very good performer.

The Black Keys, The Flaming Lips, and Bombino would be my top choices to see at that fest. Bob Mould Band might be worth checking out and I've been hearing some good things about Alabama Shakes, so I'd probably check them out also.
The rest would probably be an audio crapshoot for me.

Agh I know, I'm not entirely sure what I would do in that situation, especially if it comes down to two artists I really want to see, I'd probably go see the first half of one and the second half of the other.

I think I'd like to see ALT-J, I've heard some of their stuff and they seem really good, I'm going to try and listen to bits and bobs from everyone who is playing so I don't miss anyone that will end up putting on a great show. Defo going to see Rihanna so I can eyegasm at her. :)

Do yous have any festival tips? Bearing in mind I'm in Scotland and it could either be ****ing roasting or flooded or just damn freezing haha.

Yeah, the Black Keys and the Flaming Lips are who would interest me in going. Alabama Shakes are pretty good, and I like the Joy Formidable and Foxygen's albums so I guess I'd want to see them. I've seen a few of the lesser known indie bands (ex. A Lion Named Roar) and they aren't bad. But there's still a good number of bands I don't - or haven't - listened to... ex. String Cheese Incident, Animal Collective, etc.

Whatever, I'll probably end up going anyways, haha.

The T in the Park lineup a few pages back looked pretty epic, for you people who are going to that or live over there.

Foals on Monday, second time in 3 months I will be seeing them. Hoping it's as good as last time (November). They were just doing a few warm up gigs for the new album then but they were brilliant live.

A couple of local gigs are on the horizon with an 11 piece Reggae band called Mizzizi on Friday. Gotta support small local venues!

Gojira on the 23rd March too (me Birthday!).

Sadiisayhi 03-05-2013 07:31 PM

ATL and Pierce the Veil in Chicago!

Unrelenting 03-07-2013 10:00 AM

On April 17 I'm seeing Bonobo

July 4-8 I'm going to Ottawa bluesfest, a week long outdoor festival that hasn't been dedicated to blues in a very long time, however, B.B. King will be there. I'm also seeing El-P, Killer Mike, and Bjork. Needless to say, I'm stoked.

Madam Butterfly 03-07-2013 10:27 AM

KASABIAN in June, oh and PAUL WELLER in July! Can't wait. Foals aced it last night, great gig

jackhammer 03-17-2013 07:07 PM

Koan Sound and Opiou (hopefully) on the 27th of this month, just after Gojira on Saturday.

Saxon at the end of April is also penciled in.

I heard Foals don't really put on too much of an energetic show. They just stand around playing their instruments. So tell me, how are their sets brilliant?
