Godd@m DS, if only I had your gigs budget and spare time. Recently had a baby daughter so both are a thing of the past for me.

But nope, didn't manage it myself and haven't seen any evidence that anyone else got one either.

I truly hope you experience differently, but even as an Alkaline Trio obsessive when I saw them a few years back at the academy it was by far the worst sound mixing I've ever heard. The only way I could tell what song they were playing was to look at Matt's fretting hand, god awful.

downwardspiral 04-17-2015 04:35 AM

Haha I swear I don't have that much of a gig budget, I just buy shed loads of tickets and then live off beans on toast for 3 weeks afterwards.

Yeah I saw them at the academy a few years ago too as part of Sound City and the sound wasn't great. They're very inconsistent at that venue, sometimes it's very poor and other times it's pretty decent. Oh well, we shall see.

Plankton 04-21-2015 04:14 PM

Just got invited to April Wine/Blue Öyster Cult.

**** yeah, I'm there.

Mr. Sir 04-21-2015 04:16 PM

I've got Swans, Emptiness, Engerling Ensemble and Antediluvian on my agenda so far. It should be pretty **** awesome.

I'm considering seeing a Robby Krieger/Blue Öyster Cult double bill this summer. Only problem is that Robby has recently had his son handling the lead vocals on tour and his son is quite underwhelming as a vocalist IMO. I'll probably wait until the last minute and see if I can find a ticket under face value from someone who's stuck with an extra.

Yeah, I'd definitely pass on that one. Who in their right mind would pay good money to have someone annoy them?

My situation is that my Ex's brother-in-law (we're still buds) called me up saying that someone dropped out of the group of 4 going to see April Wine/BÖC because they were just handed divorce papers, and are now deep in the nasty part of all of it. Hooray for ****ed up relationships!

If I can get a ticket under face value, I'll skip Robby (unless he has someone else on vocals by then) and enter the venue after his set. I saw him twice with Ray Manzarek when they had Dave Brock on vocals, and I've seen him with his jazz band, so I won't feel like I'm missing out if I skip his set this time.

Blue Öyster Cult still put on a good show, even though it's just Eric & Buck left from the original lineup. Blue Coupe are also a lot of fun (the Bouchard brothers with Dennis Dunaway from the original Alice Cooper lineup) if you like those old Cult & Cooper tunes.

I've been wanting to see Buck for a long time. It's the only reason I'm going. Maybe he'll pull some solo stuff out. Wishing.

My Morning Jacket or Belle & Sebastian, which would you choose and why go.

sidewinder 04-23-2015 03:54 PM

I'm supposed to see Mac Demarco tonight but also made dinner plans because I made a mistake and thought the show was Tuesday. I can probably make it there after dinner without rushing, but now I kind of don't feel like doing both.

bob. 04-23-2015 06:29 PM

Built to Spill in one hour :)

MMJ because I've never heard the other and I don't gamble.

April Wine/BÖC in 12. Didn't have to pay for my ticket, I'm not driving, and all the beer is on my friend that invited me. It's gonna be a grand old time.

I have to choose between the two and it's probably the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with.

MMJ, since they have the rep of being one of the best live bands out there...even if they are a bit past their prime.

I hope to go to Sharon Van Etten, even though I haven't really heard a lot of her music. But beggars can't be chosers and it looks like it could be a very enjoyable show...

CoNtrivedNiHilism 04-25-2015 08:16 PM

Motley Crue in December, at the Portland, Oregon Moda Center Arena.

Going to be so f*cking awesome!

I will not miss being able to see one of my favorite 80's bands in concert. I WILL NOT!

Mondo Bungle 04-25-2015 08:20 PM

you better not miss it, because they're supposedly playing their last show ever in December

I like Belle & Sebastian more, but MMJ.

I think I'll go with MMJ. I can dig the songs from their last 3 records, but beyond that I'm not too familiar with them.

Plankton 05-06-2015 06:34 AM

I'm not sure how many people here know this, but I'm a HUGE fan of Rush. I've been in complete awe of their music from the first time I heard 2112 back in 1979. After hearing the news of Neil Peart developing tendonitis, and this being their last year touring, I decided it's probably a good time to finally see them live. I looked at the tour dates, and saw they're coming to Chicago on the 12th of June, so I checked ticket prices, and seating available. Front row was $2K... Two... Kay... Whoa. Keep going. I finally found a good match for my wallet and me at about 30th row just left of center in front of Al. I just now printed the ticket out. I'm staring at it right now in disbelief. I'm actually going to a Rush concert. I'm finally going to see my all-time favorite band. I am one with the universe.

Frownland 05-06-2015 08:50 AM

^Nice dude, they put on a great show. Saw them on the Time Machine tour where they put on a three hour concert and it was pretty damned fantastic.

Thanks man. Rush, and then Tedeschi Trucks the following weekend. I'm pretty stoked.

Plankton 05-07-2015 01:12 PM

I was just informed I'm going to see Godsmack on the 17th. This is good news indeed. I saw them at Ozzfest 15 years ago, and they killed it. From the video's and recent stuff I've heard it should be one to remember.

It's funny, the person who asked me if I wanted to go, asked if I'd rather see Slash. I threatened to cut off all ties with said person.

Psy-Fi 05-07-2015 08:13 PM

sidewinder 06-04-2015 03:59 PM

Neutral Milk Hotel tonight!

Josef K 06-04-2015 05:32 PM

If all goes according to plan, Destroyer in September and Run the Jewels and Titus Andronicus and Spider Bags (the last two are the same show) in October.

DeadChannel 06-04-2015 06:00 PM

Possibly seeing The Kills over the summer in portland. Also maybe going to the Kaslo Jazz fest.
Dunno, though, I've applied for a job, and it might be harder to get time off.

I saw them open for QOTSA. They were pretty tight. That lady is sexy.

bob. 06-04-2015 10:01 PM

Seeing Ufomammut now!

Moss 06-04-2015 10:06 PM

I may be moving to Oceanside California so I'm afraid to buy any concert tickets. Which sucks because Wilco, Faith No more, Cheap Trick, Widespread Panic, Neil Young, Steely Dan, and My Morning Jacket are coming, and that's just Red Rocks.

Frownland 06-04-2015 10:33 PM

When are you moving to Oceanside? That's right up the block from me.

Well, it's not for sure yet. Just in the interviewing phase but I'm hopeful. Any insight into the area would be very helpful.

bob. 06-05-2015 01:43 AM

That was life changing.....holy ****ing ****

Justthefacts 06-05-2015 01:07 PM

In 6 days I'm seeing Iceage, The Growlers, Courtney Barnett, then Mac Demarco.

In 7 days I'm seeing Against Me!, little bit of Alabama Shakes, Kendrick Lamar, Run The Jewels, then Flying Lotus.

In 8 days I'm seeing The War On Drugs, Belle & Sebastian, My Morning Jacket, Slayer (FUCK yes), then D'Angelo & the Vanguard

And in 9 days I'm seeing Shabazz Palaces, Spoon, Florence & the Machine, and to save the best for fucking last Billy Joel

EPOCH6 06-05-2015 03:39 PM

Death Grips on the 20th.

Hope you have a good time! Or maybe not, depending on how true to the Death Grips aesthetic you would like your experience to be.

Justthefacts 06-05-2015 03:51 PM

Yeah Death Grips is cool but in all seriousness, Billy Joel, in 9 days. Not to mention 15 other bands preceding Billy.

Frownland 06-05-2015 03:59 PM

I saw that list...and you're stoked about Billy Joel? Is it a festival or something?
