I got this because the Ambulance LTD track was my favorite on the feb comp. Really great album so far, kinda indie, kinda folkish, everything I like.

I've been looking all over for this, well actually I was going for their self titled, but thanks to my discovery of Google Blog Search I stumbled across this EP.
It's not the masterpiece that their latest album is, but still great. I want more people on Musicbanter to get into these guys.

Kind of self-explained. More or less a horn fest, instrumental reggae.

Too bad it's their only good album, imo :/

Yeah I've heard that the first is a little non descript. I'm a sucker for shoegaze though.

This is one band i've never really got to grips with.

It's like on paper they tick all the right boxes for me to like them , but when I listen to them there's just something lacking that I can't put my finger on.

I only like a couple of shoegaze bands. A lot of them are sort of samey. And uh... I'd have to say there are probably more asian teenagers listening to Loveless than there are fish in the sea.

Haha, I like it. I don't try to analyse it or anything, it's just... good background music, and I say that in the nicest way possible. Well, I think it's good.

I felt exactly the same when i listened to Cats and Dogs, which is a bugger because i like the track on the High Fidelity soundtrack.

James Grant - Strange Flowers.

Ex Love and Money frontman's 5th solo album, and probably his best yet. The title track was written for a Swedish vampire movie that never got made - and you can see it working.

James's voice is reminiscent of Scott Walker on a few of the tracks.

Sure thing!
I thought the second one was lacking a bit although my description might sound interesting :p:. Who knows anyways...you might end up liking it more.

Anyways, here's another one I bought an hour back -

http://images.chapitre.com/ima0/big1/077/773077.jpg

Iration Steppas - Dubz From De Higher Regionz

Some of the most bass heavy dub I've ever heard! Might send shock waves across your head or room depending on what you use. No kidding! Is that a good or a bad thing, I'm not really sure :p:.

i've got an hour-long soundsystem clash between Iration Steppas (from Leeds incidentally, the place to go for live soundsystems I am told) and Zion Train, i'll upload it i think if anybody fancies (it's got quite a bit of hiss like alot of these things). The album 'Original Dub D.A.T.' is not nearly as impressive.

Send it across! I'm definitely interested :D.

As for Iration Steppas...I got their release through my friend and haven't ripped it yet! All their youtube stuff from this album seems to be live, so the bass isn't all that noticeable. (although most of it sounds good)

Fight with Tools is good, with some interesting instrumentation. At times their lyrics are a little clumsy.

Haven't had time to listen to Breaking Kayfabe yet.

Trim - Soulfood Vol. 4 (2009)

Apparently Trim's last underground mixtape before the album hits, it's more of the same off-kilter flow and supreme weirdness what me like... the perfect antithesis to monotonous, hyped-up grime MCs. As with every Soulfood it's gonna be a fixture for a few weeks no doubt, being a double CD and all. There's a Skream production on it too :hphones:

I wasn't too keen on Vol3 in this series :(

As for me, i'm reliving the 80's:

i'm literally miffed by that... it's a bit odd but i don't know how you couldn't like it! Well frankly there could be many reasons...
Incidentally vol.4 is a bit of a disappointment, production's half arsed (for once it sounds like a cheap road mixtape) in places and the vocals are mixed too high for no apparent reason... Bleh. the instrumental disc is good though

So was I. The intrumentation was the best part of the whole thing. Lyrics were cheesy sometimes though.
Saw 'em live too. They put on a hell of a show.
