Zyma - Thoughts (1978)

Avant-garde jazzy rock from Germany, with hints in various places of the Canterbury Scene. You can even HEAR the bong-smoking in the background on a track or two, lulz!

http://www.willowglass.net/Book%20of...rs%20cover.jpg
Willowglass - Book of Hours (2008)

Willowglass, a moniker for a single guy named Andrew Marshall (who plays all the instruments except for drums, and does all the mixing himself), attempts to recreate the sort of genuine symphonic lushness you hear on Camel's Snow Goose and Moonmadness on this instrumental album, and it exceeds in spades while still sounding original. Highly recommended to everyone!

I don't hate or like coldplay...they just cover me in a big cloud of mediocrity whenever I listen to them..

sweet_nothing 03-01-2009 01:53 AM

I love Coldplay, and I dont give a **** who knows.

Fruitonica 03-01-2009 02:45 AM

I'm starting to appreciate Viva La Vida more, there are plenty of good moments and I can hear them trying to branch out. But they don't get too far, and as a whole they're determinedly unexceptional.

Eddie Hazel's guitar work is the best thing about Funkadelic, so I'm happy I finally got my hands on this. Even though I'm just a little disappointed.

i saw them in 2003, they were good. I hate the album before last though. Haven't heard the latest.

jacklovezhimself 03-01-2009 10:40 AM

you just gave me another reason to go to Bonnaroo.
maybe I'll get lucky and they'll come to lollapalooza.

Lucky. Didn't play much Deloused when I saw them last year. And yeah, Amputechture is pretty bad. The newest one is quite good I guess.
I chuckled at the video.

yeah i was obsessed with the first one, Frances just brings up bad trip flashbacks and then i stopped paying attention. Got Amputechture last year and I just found it annoying, reviews for Bedlam are encouraging though

Rage Against the Machine 03-01-2009 01:05 PM

My English teacher saw them live back in '04 and said Cedric's mic fucked up halfway through a song, after which he got pissed and said something along the lines of the venue they were at being the worst he'd ever played at.

And that video brought the lulz.

i've never met them, but there is little doubt in my mind that Bixler and Rodriguez are tossers. There's a video somewheres of Bixler having a hissy fit at a gig because the punters had the audacity to mosh to his music. Prick

I don't think he's a prick, I just think that he likes to get intimate with that crowd. And he doesn't want it to get too wild with the crowd being so close to them. Besides mosh pits suck anyway.

After hearing a track on Dreadnaughts comp, I finally managed to get hold of:
http://www.cluas.com/indie-music/Por.../fla-cover.jpg

It's a lovely mess of girl power pop, distorted riffs, quirky lyrics, D.I.Y synth lines and bags of attitude.

lucifer_sam 03-01-2009 04:15 PM

Another convert. :)

EDIT: I don't have the last album. Mind providing an up? can't seem to find it on google blogs

EDIT EDIT: Never mind.

Hey hey, glad you like them! I've seen a lot of negative feedback tagged with this band so it's good to hear of someone else who appreciates them. :D

Very nice, a nice ecclectic selection of beats and samples and perfect for the chilled mood i'm in right now. Some of the songs could do with being a bit longer, it all zips by quite quickly, but this looks promising.

He once mocked the audience and went off stage during Big Day Out because of the moshing, but I imagine it had gotten pretty bad, as a teenage girl later died at a Limp Bizkit concert there.
Moshing is pretty stupid. Violent behaviour at concerts is totally uncalled for.

Lift - Caverns Of Your Brain (1977)

A well-stirred blend of Creedence Clearwater Revival and ELP-style prog. rock. Its pretty hard at times, and the frantic drumming works well with all the fiery guitar licks. :)

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_V7Gf89KAKc...Fim+(1983).jpg
Bacamarte - Depois do Fim (1983)

Brazil's symphonic answer to Yes's Close to the Edge, and a masterpiece of the otherwise prog-sparse 80's.

Muon - In Flught

Single notes expanded upon, elevated and embraced with a smattering of acoustic guitars. Music that goes nowhere and everywhere. Electronic Post Rock without the cliches of the genre.
