Woods - Bend Beyond
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y11...svfgxg2k5.jpeg Chill and summery. Of Monsters and Men - Beneath the Skin http://www.officialcharts.com/media/...500&height=500 I would kill to see these guys in concert. |
Some recent instrumental heavy psych/stoner rock from France...
Jagannatha - Jagannatha (2016) |
http://www.muno.pl/static/obrazy/tex...cover_prev.jpg
Hand that Heals / Hand that Bites by We Will Fail oh boy. so her last album, Verstorung was one of my absolute favorites of 2014, and now she's released this double album that I only just heard about today. I'm just about to start streaming it here and holy hell im excited. Verstorung still gets a great deal of play time from me, and it's every bit as mesmerizing as my first listen so I've got high hopes here. |
Sun Kil Moon - Benji
http://s3.amazonaws.com/quietus_prod...1392821304.jpg One of the few albums that has made me cry. Though I kept to myself, and for the most part was pretty coy I once got baited into clocking some undeserving boy Out on the elementary school playground I threw a punch that caught him off-guard and knocked him down And when I walked away, the kids were cheering And though I grinned, deep inside I was hurting But not nearly as much as I'd hurt him He stood up, his glasses broken and his face was red And I was never a schoolyard bully It was only one incident and it has always eaten at me I was never a young schoolyard bully And wherever you are, that poor kid, I'm so sorry |
Be my baby, the very best of the Ronettes
Phil Spector is pure genious. I'm not a big fan of Motown girl groups, but the sound is incredible. |
Bitchin Bajas - Bitchitronics
https://beatsperminute.com/wp-conten...chitronics.jpg Not at all what I was expecting. I thought this would be frenetic and punky, not soothing and melodic. |
^ @mordwyr regarding Benji: Carissa is one of the best songs I've ever heard. The feels.
I queued these today on Spotify: This is growing on me. Hard. Could end up being one of my favorites this year. He also puts on an illustrious live show. His most banger beats end up on this record, and if you fancy his soul-crushing croon, you'll love it. His longest record to date as well. Death Grips | Bottomless Pit I already had this leaked to my ITunes but I find it easier saved to my Spotify. It blew my mind the first few times I heard it, but I haven't picked it up since. I don't know what this means, but I'm gonna listen to it again today. It's good though, I think. Anohni | Hopelessness Yet to hear this, but from what Pitchfork and various other professional critics have said, it's supposedly worth listening too. I loved I Am A Bird Now when she was still with the Johnson's. That voice though is the best instrument in whatever music she does. Never fleshed out any of their other records in their back catalogue, but NME gave it a 5/5 so I must listen to it. I'm a slave to a few music critics, got a problem with that? |
Depeche Mode - Black Celebration
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/515leFvfIcL.jpg First listen. Really enjoyed it, though perhaps not as much as Violator. |
@JTF lol downloaded all of those same albums today, yay for us Pitchforkers.

I once saw a group on last.fm that read, "I'm so indie I sh*t pitchforks."

Tomita Isao - The Planets http://eil.com/images/main/Isao+Tomi...ets+304693.jpg Don't want to trample on Mr. Tomita's ashes, but this suuuuuucks. |
ANOHNI - HOPELESSNESS
http://media1.fdncms.com/chicago/ima...?cb=1462822048 Since I fled America during the Bush administration, I don't really feel her hopelessness. Keane - Hopes and Fears https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._and_Fears.jpg An old favorite. Love this album. Good memories associated with it. Ben Harper - Burn to Shine http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51VYPGatMdL.jpg Good ol' Todd introduced me to Ben Harper back in '99. Disclosure - Caracal http://www.kure.stuorg.iastate.edu/w...15-500x500.jpg Dancey. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell http://cdn.albumoftheyear.org/album/...rie-lowell.jpg One of my favorite artists. Bright Eyes - Cassadaga https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped..._Cassadaga.jpg To me, Bright Eyes is looking out the ceiling-to-floor one-way window in the suite of the Prince Hotel, looking out over the city nightscape of Tokyo, tripping on a threshold level of LSD with my three best friends. |
^Cassadaga is a fantastic album.

Cool. Didn't know they had another one out. Their other releases are pretty cool, although Bargeld can be a little annoying. |

I've posted this record before, but damn this has been in rotation the past few weeks. Love Robert Smith's voice, and the shoe-gazey sound sprinkled all over this record. 4.5/5 |
