Definitely one of their better ones, if not the best.

Brainticket - Psychonaut (1972)

Of all the early psychedelic Krautrock bands I've gone through, I consider Brainticket to be among the most interesting. While their debut Cottonwoodhill was rather avant-garde in terms of whack-out trippiness, this follow-up is incredibly chill by comparison, but quite compelling regardless. Glad I managed to find it!

That looks seriously awesome. Downloading now.

Lemme know if you still need Transmissions from the Satellite Heart. It's been spinning almost continuously this last week for me and it's definitely one of their standout albums.

Hope you enjoy Brainticket. And Jack covered me on Transmissions already, but thanks for the offer!

So, lets look at my haul for today:

Pink Floyd - Animals

Well now, what to say except "Goddamn I wish I had gotten this album two years ago" or something along those lines. Gilmour is in top form here, and his playing deserves every bit of accolade that people award this record.

Moon Safari - Blomljud

Been a long time since I've been this engrossed in a new download. Of all today's modern symphonic rock bands, Moon Safari is definitely at the top of the line in terms of musicianship and pure vocal bliss, and this album showcases both things in droves. For an idea of their sound, imagine really good Yes-like progressive rock with infinitely more melodic Beach Boys-ish vocals and you've got a basic idea of why I'm in listening heaven right now!

Here's a particularly good track from Blomljud called Yasgur's Farm. Vocals start about 2 minutes in. Enjoy!:

A band that should have been much bigger, how are you getting on with it? Pleiades and I'll Never Be The Same are my favourite tracks. in fact I'm going to listen to it now :D

I haven't started listening to it yet. A co-worker of mine has all their CD's and he's been wanting me to give them a try for a while. His big thing is the harmonies too...it's funny that you mentioned that.

So he brings me Kings X cd's to rip to my computer, and in exchange I bring him a Porcupine Tree CD...it works out!

If you can handle Anderson's unique vocals, it's a brilliant album. Although if you have not heard much prog then it maybe not the best album to start with.

It's their best, IMO.

Even though they sound a hell of a lot like Cap'n Jazz on that album.

No, I was going in chronological order.

And you also thought Colors was boring, so who knows what I'll think of it :)

I was told to buy it from a co-worker. I had no idea what to expect, but I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Hidria Spacefolk - Symbiosis

If you love the Ozrics, you will love the Hidria Spacefolk. Their sound, while comparable to the Tentacles, is distinct and interesting, but it still possesses that expansive quality that makes the OT's, and Gong-like space/psychedelia in general, so nice to listen to. :)
