Anteater-nice choice with Riverside. A great band and quite underated.

Lost Dogs - Pearl Jam. I mainly bought it to get that extra song in "Beegirl" that is Eddie Vedder's tribute to layne staley. i was pretty happy with it. its a good cd.

Ripping more soul albums from cds.

The funny thing about most soul albums from the 60's is that there covers are hilarious. Fortunately the music is great. This is last one I ripped:

Hawkwind - Space Ritual

Space rock is new to me so maybe this will be a grower, but I'm not too crazy about it yet. Space Is Deep and Orgone Accumulator are the standouts so far. The track talking about space being emotionless and stuff is pretty out there.

Hawkwind pioneered only one kind of space rock though. Hence, I will say to that bands such as the Ozric Tentacles, Gong, Hidria Spacefolk, Eloy and early Pink Floyd might suit your tastes better if you want to hear a more literal kind of "space" rock.

Speaking of which, today I got....

Pink Floyd - A Saucerful of Secrets

Read many a' good thing about this sophomore release, and oddly enough its the only album by them I hadn't heard before. Thus far, I'm convinced its one of the best albums I've ever heard. :hphones:

Jan Dukes de Grey - Mice and Rats in the Loft

Obscure acid-folk in the vein of Comus arranged into prog-like suites? **** yeah!!!!

lucifer_sam 02-02-2009 11:00 PM

Don't forget desert rock legends like Kyuss & Nebula and the '80s and '90s resurgence of space rock in Britain with Spacemen 3, Spiritualized, The Verve, etc.

For some reason I never completed the purchase of The Black Keys - Rubber Factory.

Just did, and I have to say, "Keep Me" is insanely good. Brought this band to yet even a higher level in my book, if that's even possible. Brilliant.

Moby -Last night

unexpectedly, I am really enjoying it.

CanesFan311 02-03-2009 03:18 AM

Last album that I received (didn't buy, as it was given to me by the band.. some cool ass dudes):

Ballyhoo! - Cheers

Last album that I downloaded:

Sugar Ray - Lemonade & Brownies

I was pleasantly surprised by the Sugar Ray pick, as it's not the sound you'd expect from hearing their pop-esque 90s radio hits. It's been classified as funk-metal. I'm really digging it.

Is it worth a dibble? Look's like my kinda thing? Is it similar to Afrobeat or more U.S-centric?

Roemilca 02-03-2009 12:40 PM

I just noticed the cover art.

And it doesn't look TOO bad, what's it like?

FaSho 02-03-2009 12:43 PM

If you've heard the single "I Don't Care", i's the worst track on the album IMO. I'm really like FOB's frst 3 albums, and Infinity on High was ehh. It falls in the middle overall.

Roemilca 02-03-2009 01:05 PM

Cork Tree was amazing, the debut was my favorite, I forgot the name of it, but the second album was pretty good too. Infinity On High was their weak point IMO, but it still had good songs on it, such as Carpal Tunnel Of Love. Wow, I still can't get over the fact that they scream for around fourty minutes on the track, and that there's a breakdown in it.
What would this album fall under?

And, not sure, but I'm pretty sure the last album I downloaded was:
The Wu-Tang Clan's Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)

FaSho 02-03-2009 01:17 PM

Their debut Evening out with your girlfriend was the best,(there's a review around here somewhere ;)), this album combines the awesomeness from FUCT and adds what was good about Infinity on High. Overall I'd give it about an 8.5
