That's why you like it cause other people don't. That is like rule #1 for anyone listening to underground, college music, indie, or alt-Rock or whatever you want to call it. You like what they hate, you hate what they like, and they'll do the same for you and hate your taste in music. They being the hoi polloi of music listeners. It's not rocket science. The Beatles are so awesome since now everyone hates them. Seriously though, I absolutely love the Talking Heads debut album.

I'm gonna breakdown music for everyone so try to keep your craniums in tact right now:

All artists make music, and sometimes people like it and sometimes they don't. If that's confusing or you don't know why someone would like like something, you have to remember that they in fact have a different brain than yours.

I get where you're coming from, but the guy has a point, or there wouldn't be widespread cultural convergence on particular artists or albums. It's not straight up randomness. The "classic" artists and albums aren't considered classics for nothing. There's some element there that people gravitate to, and sometimes we can pick out what that is and other times we can't. He just wants to know what that element of the Talking Heads is.
