I think Rage Against the Machine is a genius band and they just completely nail everything they do. Demand your attention with loud and aggressive smashing and then pound it all into your head in a very satisfying way. Thick and heavy stuff that's at the same time unbelievably infectious. Guitar solo sections are uncanny. De la rocha can spit a seriously mad flow and then go on to rip some of the fiercest and meatiest screams I've ever heard.

I did reacquaint myself with the self titled like five times yesterday and it us badass city. 10/10 album.

I think they can do good **** but too often make meh ****.

Mondo Bungle 01-22-2017 05:45 PM

that's like literally what it is

It's been years since I listened to their self-titled and I enjoyed it quite a lot when I was a teen. Not quite sure what level of enjoyment I'd get from it now. But I can certainly say that Evil Empire and The Battle of Los Angeles were nowhere near as good as it. They were also a tight live band when I saw them in 2008 when they reformed.

I can't remember who it was (it might have been Urban) who described RATM as something along the lines of 'Fisher-Price My First Political Band', which might be somewhat accurate as in they are a gateway band to better political music.

Stankonia is Outkast's greatest album

I almost fully agree with this. RATM is one of my favorite bands of all time. I haven't listened to a full album in quite some time though. Over a year or two. And when Prophets of Rage became a thing, I paid no attention.

Mondo Bungle 01-25-2017 09:36 PM

I didn't know that was a thing til right now

It sounds hella suck

JiggleMonster 01-25-2017 09:38 PM

I assumed it would, which is why I never checked it out.

Buuut, Audioslave is reuniting. Hopefully that'll be neat.

Isn't that just a one-off thing?

JiggleMonster 01-25-2017 09:55 PM

Which? Prophets of Rage, or Audioslave? I think both probably are. I haven't done really any research on it though.
