I agree with Mayhem being overrated. Much of their mystique comes from reasons other than the music e.g. the deaths of Dead and Euronymous. While De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas would have been so much better if they had a decent vocalist on it.

I've always said that they're the most black metal band but also one of the worst.
