I've been getting more and more into that kind of thing over the course of 2017. That's why I even know that I like accordions.
My accordion listening quotient will be increased significantly in 2018!

I’ll the conversation speak for itself.

^ Well, that's good news, MicShazam!
If you like, you can find accordion music here (http://www.musicbanter.com/avant-gar...r-s-guide.html) or here (http://www.musicbanter.com/country-f...-ha-douks.html) - or you can check out some big names in the accordion world: Sharon Shannon, Flaco Jimenez, Kimmo Pohjonen.
Alternatively, if you want something less hardcore accordion, you could try some Latin pop from Julieta Venegas:-

Re: Hendrix

Too easy. Kinda like saying John Wayne was the greatest cowboy actor. Hendrix definitely turned the world upside down, and what he was able to do with primitive equipment was astounding (he did have Roger Mayer and Eddie Kramer in his back pocket though).

Buddy Guy doesn't get enough credit for what Hendrix became. Take Buddy's playing along with his theatrics, and Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis, morphed into the late 60s psychedelic era, and Hendrix was almost inevitable.

Not taking anything away from the guy. One of the greatest ever. But he just didn't arrive out of a puff of smoke.
I always thought it was pretty obvious how much he got from rockabilly with his frills and the way he uses the whole neck almost all the time. He took it several steps further though and it's very apparent which is why I took the easy choice.

They're confusing influence with imitation and low C's with A's.

I'll check all of these out later. I've heard about none of them, so that's going to be interesting. A while back, I listened to a whole album by Chango Spasiuk. That's pretty much the only 100% accordion centric record that I've heard so far. In other words, I've got a lot left to explore.

I'm confused at what there is to be confused about. Inspiration is like eating food. The thing that comes out on the other side doesn't directly resemble the things you ate. Not that I'm calling your music ****, but otherwise I think it's a perfect metaphor for creative assimilation.

McShazam, here's where Frowny stepped into ****. Saying someone's an inspiration is fine. But he took it a bit further than that with his answers above.

And I stand by them. Like I said, don't confuse C's with A's or influence with imitation. Or maybe don't ignore the rest of the convo where I explained myself pretty well.

Saying you sometimes come close-ish (70%) isn't really saying much though? I mean, if I sit down and pretend I can play the piano, I sometimes, very briefly, sound halfway like I know what I'm doing.

It would be something else if Frown said that he's just in general 70% of the way to being the new Joe Pass.

Hitting small, isolated moments of something that sounds kind of sort of like it isn't quite the same thing.

The words speak for themselves. I don't really give a ****. He put it out there, got called on it, and quickly back peddled.

Using your piano analogy, I can get close to Picasso sometimes. I can get close to Tom Brady sometimes. I can get close to Cormac McCarthy sometimes. Etc.
