Cryptopsy's Once Was Not is an excellent album.

I didn't get MTV in the 90s and it very rarely played any of that music over here its was mostly britpop and thhe feckin spice girls.

I'm not sure if this is unpopular, but I prefer Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal to Darkness Descends. Also, I think that Windir makes some of the most beautiful and atmospheric music I've heard, and that's coming from someone who listens to a lot of post rock/metal.

Both, but more so the death metal stuff. The black metal stuff was hit and miss, but more misses than hits.
