Hmmm, a rehashed adidasss/markaba insult. Mine might be bad sir, but they're at least my own.

Emo, regardless of what you're defining it as, was always an attention starved gimmick.

And Keith Richards might actually be god.

A gimmick. Yea. That's it. That's why so many bands went broke on tour, played so many basement shows, 100 press 7"s, LPs that sold for like two bucks. The nice people who are losing money are taking your monies!!!!!!! I dare you to tell that it's a gimmick to Andrew Arietta or Halford.

Give me a break or put some facts behind it.

TheBig3 06-03-2007 07:52 PM

You dare me? Why wouldn't I say it to them.

And might I direct you to the title of the thread.

swim 06-03-2007 07:59 PM

Andrew Arietta sells cds at 4 dollars ppd. Shipping costs a dollar at least and pressing costs at least a dollar per and then considering he has to pay the bands he probably makes pennies per each individual realease. Hal Harman doesn't sell a single thing over 8 dollars ppd. most of it under 5$. The whole scene is like this. How is this is a ploy? People working together to share music. I've never been to a show that was more than 10$. In fact I've been to only one show that cost 10$ and it had 10 bands playing. Who's making money? Who? Put facts behind your statement or you're full of shit, like I've already asked. Just because this is an unpopular opinion thread doesn't mean you can go around saying things that have no substance to it.

TheBig3 06-03-2007 08:00 PM

I'm missing why I can't, if its an opinion as the title states then frankly I can hold any ass backward ideology i want.

swim 06-03-2007 08:02 PM

For the third time can you please put some facts behind it?

TheBig3 06-03-2007 08:04 PM

Yeah I could, but seeing as we're just making statements in here, I won't. We're way off topic, this is the last I'll say about it. PM me if you want to fight more.

I didn't rip them off because I don't recall them making such comments, what I said was just very generic, but straightforward nonetheless.

That and I was asking a serious question.

I'm sorry, but when it comes to the oringial wave of emo music, it's one of the LEAST gimmicky, most sincere, subgenres of rock music there is. You're either basing that comment on what emo has come to represent - or you don't know what a gimmick is. You don't seem like a stupid person, so I'm guessing it's the former. In which case, it's simply an ignorant, uninformed remark. The thread title says "unpopular music opinions" - but your opinion is based on something you know nothing about - so GET WITH IT, TheBig3KilledMyRainDog.
