Doesn't have to be dancing just some energy and lively invention would be nice. Unless it's an ambient track in which case it is something completely different to me. Anyway I'm not saying I hate all IDM, but some of it I think can be overrated.

It could be. But sometimes the most famous things in a genre impress me, but I don't lke BoC or Aphex Twin that much.

electronica is the genre i thought.... IDM is a sub-genre of... but I know next to nothing about electronic music, all I ever really enjoyed was Goa.

looked it up, IDM is a sub-genre of Electronica. As I say, I am ignorant when it comes to electronic music.

Electronic is a very loose term. You have IDM, Trip Hop, Plunderphonics, Synth Pop, Turntableism, Krautrock, Ambient, Glitch, Minimalism, Techno and lots more that branch off from it. More specific genres, because of how diverse electronic music is the term 'electronic' doesn't really mean much.
