Honestly, I don't know how influential they are because I don't find them all that interesting, but I certainly don't need to have lived during that period of time to acquire this knowledge.

EDIT: I can definitely see how the word "revolutionary" could be misinterpreted. It was vaguely used in my original statement, and it could have meant a lot of different things.

I think it depends on the style you are talking about. "Here are the Sonics" influence would of been a lot bigger when discussing punk rock and grune later on. It's influence and revolutionary qualities would be found in that style more than anything else, more so than that of The Monks most likely.

Upon just finishing "Black Monk Time" I can say, The Sonics were more raw and loud, which would go on to be heard in bands like Dead Boys and Mudhoney just to name a few.

Kanye West is actually the best artist of our generation.
Paul's Boutique is far and out, the best rap album of all time
All really heavy metal music has no artistic merit.

The Sonics were the only band of the era to play raw and loud?

Metal has no artistic merit.... back that one up.... seems rather close minded.

No, but they were one of the more recognisable.

Does this count?

I'm not really sure... I really don't like metal that much, but I certainly wouldn't dismiss a genre's artistic credibility.

No I totally agree, and I'm probably one of their biggest fans on the forum.

I've said it before but they're too prolific for their own good if they weren't releasing an album it was either an EP or a collaboration with somebody else.I think they put out too much material & it's a shame they don't edit down a bit more what they do write.

The only album of theirs I can listen to the whole way through is Emperor Tomato Ketchup.
