Amy Winehouse was extremely talented and her loss was tragic. She had the same demons that I do, but she never found her way out of that hell. I feel incredibly fortunate for getting out.

But she wasn't underrated. Or overrated.

She was in every single music publication constantly from the moment she released Back To Black until long after she was dead, and that's not even counting the tabloid attention she got.

If that's underrated I'd love my favourite bands to be underrated to that level.

Default Giving away music for free

If your music is just gonna be streaming for free and downloaded illegally than embrace it. Make sure your media is badass and turn the market on its head. Create a demand for your stuff by keeping the standards by which you record/preform high. Then give it away and ask for donations humbly. If people want you to get back into the studio and make more music maybe they will give. Maybe your music isn't good enough to sell. That has been a fear of mine for my entire music "Carrier".

i too fear for my music carrier.

i give him little flash drives with all my music and send him off to deliver it to friends/music publications/etc.

but what if he loses his way or delivers it to the wrong person? it worries me often

Amy is underrated. Just because she has 5 grammys does not mean she is not underrated.

Janet has 5 grammys and she is CRIMINALLY underrated, dont care what no one says

Grammys is not the determining factor of what makes someone more or less underrated.

Esperanza Spalding has 2 grammys and she is criminally underrated.

That doesn't necessarily mean she is critically acclaim or receives accolades for her works overall.

Lauryn Hill has 5 grammy's and she does not get the deserving credit she deserves for pioneering the neo soul genre and soul R&B

Well isn't this the post your "unpopular music opinions" thread? I don't really get your point lol

I don't really care about the grammy's.

I just would like to see her get cited more and recognized for her works in her genre. I think Back to Black is one of the best albums of the past 15 years.

you're right, 5 grammy's equals no accolades for her work. good point.
