That's often the dividing point with the band, there are some that think Vitalogy and its experimentation as the pinnacle of Pearl Jam and others that hate it. Personally I like their experimental edge, not a huge fan of Vitalogy though, but I think No Code and Binaural two of their very best albums

If anything came close to how they experimented I'd definitely agree with Binaural. They took a bit of turn with Yield, which is my favourite album. But I definitely think experimentation was not their strong point.

For me, Pearl Jam is overall a better band than Oasis. Oasis had two studio albums and a b-sides (granted, AMAZING b-sides) collection that were good and after that they went to sh*t.

Pearl Jam on the other hand only has one bad album. (Yield) Plus they made Binaural, which is one of the coolest albums ever put out by a 90s grunge band. Seriously though, their discography is damn impecable.

Wow why all the Yield hate? I considered it one of their masterpieces. They really shined with lyrical writing, in a unique and creative way with folk innovations. Turned around their abilities from desperate to journeyman. It became their departure. Had serious depth pertaining to their messages. Contained a democratic field of influences that was challenging. Plotted different views of human lifestyle that were untouched. I didn't find any other that was as deep, untapped emotionally too. They reinvented themselves with Yield. That's what I meant by taking a turn.

Yea I know different strokes for different folks.

Oasis > Pearl Jam by a huge distance, but I am aware that Oasis suck ass.

Does anybody else find Pink Floyd to be a little... bland? I like some songs, and I think Dark Side is a decent album. But visually they were so much more impressive than musically. At least in my opinion.

I've always found them epic but also very bland at times. They're a band that always took themselves too seriously and Roger Waters always thought of himself as a genius (which he wasn't) he was just very accomplished at what he did. After their classic albums of the 1960s and 1970s, they self-imploded creatively with that borefest of a double album The Wall (I've yet to actually manage to sit through a complete listen, without nodding off or doing something else) They really should've called it a day back in the 1980s, as by then they were just living off their laurels. I own most of their discography, but usually have little inclination to play any of it these days.
