^^ Well, thats unnecessary. But I do think the poster isn't fully aware of his significance.

I don't see how that makes me ignorant or a prick. If I hear a lot about someone that I haven't listened to, I'll go and check out their hit singles to get a taste of what they're like. If I don't like what I hear, I stop and move on. And that's how I am with Bob Marley. "One Love" and "Three Little Birds" are good songs, but they're not my cup of tea. It didn't keep me interested enough to continue listening to his other stuff.

You just can't expect people to go through an artist's entire discography before they can form an opinion. It's unrealistic.

Well then, the fact that you clearly just dislike reggae music does not make him "overrated," as you claimed. It means you don't like him.

I think where the opinion differs is cultural significance. Marley went above and beyond just about every musician when it comes to cultural signifiance by a long shot. His music was instrumental in bringing alot of political change to Jamaica.

My bad. I have a tendency to view things from an American standpoint, which is why it didn't feel like he did much for the music scene here.

I'm guessing you're very young if you managed to have never heard of him until recently. He's an extremely popular and influential musician around the world and has been since the 70s.

He's probably never heard of Ziggy (The Melody Makers) either. Ziggy has successfully carried on his fathers legacy, winning a few Grammy Awards in the process.

But then again TwoSpirit isn't into Raggae as he stated.
