I used to tape songs from the radio when I was a kid. I kind of wish I had taped it all the way through (jingles, commercials, etc). I'm kind of a radio aircheck buff too and I can only find a few airchecks of my local station growing up.

A snippet of a show off a radio station. There's a site that has all sorts of those (mostly American but I think there's a pirate radio station in there somewhere).

You can check out this site, but you'll have to join (it's free) and you'll need Real Player to play the airchecks. There are other sites too where it's easier to listen to the airchecks.

Also, if you like AM radio from the sixties and seventies, WABC has a great website with a lot of airchecks from their history. And you shouldn't have to go through any red tape to hear them.

Meh, I hate radio. I used to love it before the DJs' egos outgrew the confines of the booth, then the station, then the city and finally the country. Now it's just who's the funniest/coolest/most shocking and who can give away the most **** to bribe people to listen. They don't even tell you what the songs are any more. **** them. They destroyed what once made radio great, now it's just another ****ing advertising tool and wallpaper music.

These airchecks are from before the shock jocks took over. There are a few from the eighties on reelradio from notorious characters such as the Greaseman, but most of them are from anywhere between 1957 and 1980 or so.

I'd recommend WABC though. You can listen to the airchecks on MP3 there and the personalities weren't especially grating (and of course the music is great, though the songs tend to be edited out).

I've never felt a desire to listen to the Beatles on my own time. I appreciate them, I just don't bop to them. I'm open to changing, but I don't know how...do I need Jesus?

Put on a good pair of headphones and listen to side 2 of Abbey Road all the way through. You will be forever converted.

I feel the same way. Every time I attempt to listen to the beatles it's just meh. I can appreciate them as far as their influence go but I just can't jive to the music minus maybe a song hear and their.

Inb4 I finally fall in love with the beatles and won't shut up about them.

I would agree, to an extent. I'm no fan of The Beatles, but that album is superb. Nevertheless, it did not convert me and nor do I ever see myself getting big into the Fab Four. But AR is an album everyone needs to hear.
