I can agree with that. I haven't heard Aavikko but I have heard Holy ****. If they were a food, they'd be delicious.

I need to resurrect this thread, because I still believe we should have an avant-garde/experimental forum. I feel like an ass.

I would love there to be a AG forum. I listen to a lot of it myself.

PopIsDead 05-22-2007 06:25 PM

Where else besides an avant-garde/experimental forum would one put threads about bands such as Secret Chiefs 3 or The Residents?

cardboard adolescent 05-22-2007 06:30 PM

alternative... general music... rock?

PopIsDead 05-22-2007 06:32 PM

It could just as easily be put in electronica or world music.

cardboard adolescent 05-22-2007 06:35 PM

you could make a case for secret chiefs 3 in world music

i would just put them in whatever forum you think will gain them the most attention. i think having an avant-garde forum would be pretty pretentious, and it might even beat out the emo forum for most elitist forum on here. plus, who decides what constitutes "avant-garde?" personally I wouldn't put secret chiefs 3 or mr. bungle under there... experimental maybe but even Radiohead could fall under that category.

PopIsDead 05-22-2007 06:39 PM

Actually, I'm thinking that an "other music" forum would be best. You could put whatever in there that you think doesn't fit cleanly into the other forums.

cardboard adolescent 05-22-2007 06:44 PM

couldn't you just use general music for that?

PopIsDead 05-22-2007 06:44 PM

Never!
