Just finished a second listen, and while I agree with you that it is pretty good I still think This Is Embracing outshines it. I have a sneaking feeling that this is a bit of a grower though, so we'll see. Good to see some Dimlite love on the boards.

Indeed!

It is most definitely a grower. I liked it at first, but like it more after about 5-6 listens now. I agree with you that This is Embracing is better, and maybe even his first one, Runbox Weathers, but the EP is a more manageable length so it gets points for that. It's a bit of a different direction, and I'm curious where he'll go from here. Hopefully he's got an LP in the works since that's technically an EP (some places call it an album, some an EP...so who knows).

I steer clear of Pitchfork reviews so I'm sure I didn't read it there. Really, I didn't want to read anything about the album until I heard it but I got curious and started looking. I skimmed one or two other reviews

Oh, and I've been digging this since yesterday: The new Caribou album, Swim. It's a lot less pop driven than Andorra (an improvement to me)

Red Sparowes - The Fear Is Excruciating, but Therein Lies the Answer

The newest album from this Los Angeles based post-rock band. Im really liking this new album.
Favorite tracks: As Each End Looms and Subsides, A Swarm, Giving Birth to Imagined Saviors

Sigur Rós - ( )

Classic album from the icelandic post-rock mammoths. Really beautifull album.
Favorite tracks: Untitled 4, Untitled 6, Untitled 8

Ef - Mourning Golden Morning

The newest album from swedish post-rock band Ef. Bought this right after it was released few weeks ago. Really loving this album and band.
Favorite tracks: Sons of Ghosts, Longing for Colors, Alp Lugens and Beyond

Two Gallants - What the Toll Tells

Just a really great album with lots of awesome songs.
Favorite tracks: Waves of Grain, Las Cruces Jail, Long Summer Day

Nevermore - The Obsidian Conspiracy (2010)

Sometimes I dislike grabbing leaks because if the album sucks then I feel a big let down, especially when it's albums that I'm greatly anticipating. Luckily this is Nevermore we're talking about and they haven't released a bad album since their debut. The Obsidian Conspiracy is exactly what I want from Nevermore, heavy, melodic, amazing production, and Warrel Dane's powerhouse vocals. Anybody who has ever curled their inner fingers inwards while extending their other two NEED to get this album.

The Blood of Heroes - The Blood of Heroes (2010)

This was an album I grabbed solely based around the cover art. I knew nothing about the band, who was in it, what style of music the play, etc. I was quite surprised when it was an eclectic blend of reggaecore, industrial, experimental, and d&b. Usually with that many different conflicting styles I'd expect the album to feel inconsistent or schizophrenic but the band manage to fuse them all together into a style that is both unique and captivating. I threw this album on last night while writing my final essay for my English class and it just clicked so well. I would highly recommend this album to anyone who likes weird, eclectic stuff.

I guess I'm surprised at how little I play this album. I haven't put it on all the way through for a while, and all the songs are just coming off as really fresh and beautiful to this day. It might be in my top three Radiohead albums.

As a loyal fan to Broken Social Scene, I'm happy to say I really like this album. Thank god they didn't disappoint.

I've had it for a few weeks but hardly played it till tonight. I was told it was v.differnt to Deserters songs and so it is. It's much less tuneful but i'm really getting into it.
