Shabazz Palaces - Black Up This album is so good. Every time I come back to it I am amazed. |

This might be my favourite Cursive album now. The Game of Who... and The Martyr are some of the best Indie Rock I've ever heard. |

Sigh - In Somniphobia (2012) I'm very happy with this album. It seems like a call back to their 2001 magnum opus Imaginary Sonicscape, with just a bizarre conglomeration of sounds and genres, and it lacks the anger and intensity found on their 2010 album Scenes From Hell. In Somniphobia has a bit more of a jazz focus, utilizing the talent of the lovely Dr. Mikannibal and her alto sax, although this isn't featured throughout the entire album. Basically if you like Sigh then you'll like this album, but I don't see this being the album that will make people a believer. |
I liked that album too, but it was my first Sigh album. Suggestions?

Been awhile since I've listened to Alice Cooper, or any "normal" rock at all. This album reminds me of what I used to love so much. http://www.vintagevinyljournals.com/...ommy-cover.jpg This, as well as other stuff from The Who. Once again, haven't heard much traditional rock in a looooong time. http://www.easystar.com/releaseimage...eRGB_large.JPG Easy Starr All Stars has a reggae cover of Dark Side Of The Moon called Dub Side Of The Moon. This is the dub version of the reggae version of Dark Side Of The Moon. Plus, some dubstep remixes. Awesome. |
How Do You Dub? - De Facto
Suprisingly enough it was easy to imagine what Omar and Cedric doing a dub project would sound like, these guys are awesome musicians. Clark - Body Riddle http://fringemusic.files.wordpress.c...ody-riddle.jpg Clams Casino like beats, ambient, chilled out. Good for the mind http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_K69KnuZCkc...unted+Jazz.jpg Pretty long album, but I can listen to it over and over. Mostly instrmental, has you bopping your head feeling the grooves from beginning to end. The Flashbulb - Kirlian Selections http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_k0A6Op01SG.../flashbulb.jpg "It's not noise, it's art." |

This album is so depressing but so beautiful. It sort of makes me feel like I'm in a depressing black and white 50s movie. |

just gets better and better the more I listen to it |
Power, Corruption, and Lies is a fantastic album. Good choice.

Nachtmystium - Assassins: Black Meddle Part 1 (2008) Strange metal band from Illinois who do this satisfying combination of black metal and psychedelic rock. They put out Addicts: Black Meddle Part 2 in 2010 which really surprised me, but wasn't the type of album I was going to go back to like an abused spouse, but this one can beat me anytime it wants. Horrible metaphors aside, this album is a must own if you're interested in the strange pairings that occasionally happen between metal genres. If you like the oddities of Syd Barret era Pink Floyd, or similar styles found throughout the Canterbury Scene and want to see it filtered through a black metal screen, I would highly recommend this album. |

this one jamaican wasn't fakin' with the bacon. |

Transference - Spoon
Something about this album that really shines for me. It's very different from their previous albums. |
Toe - For Long Tomorrow
http://www.soundfarmer.net/music/wp-...g-tomorrow.jpg Christ on toast this stuff can be beautiful. It has everything I want in Math Rock (playful guitars that don't break your ears like Lightning Bolt/Hella tend to, jazzy drumming, lots of acoustic guitar, fun instruments like the xylophone, and PIANO) and more-- I can see where the Post Rock tag came from. Big thanks to Phanastasio (or was it Kaimon? Can't remember now :p:) for mentioning this a couple pages back. |

http://www.turntablekitchen.com/_upl...r1-350x350.jpg Beach House - Bloom holy **** balls, this is my new "release of 2012". It's definitely Teen Dream 2, and since I loved Teen Dream, that's a very good thing. But I can't, for the life of me, figure out the beginning melody to "Lazuli". I always tap it wrong. |
^^^^ Love that album too. Not as good as Teen Dream though.
I am currently playing Nothingface by Voidvod, and it is kicking ass, but this is next on my playlist: Cunninlynguists - Oneirology |

Nina Simones's "Ne Se Quitte Pas." Very smooth and laid back, mostly featuring simple piano and upright bass to accompany her deep voice. Wonderful. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/EZjoGkJTDzs/0.jpg Joe Boyd Vigil's "Deep Space Bass." If anyone here watched Toonami back in the day, you know how awesome the music videos and Toonami commercials were. Drum n bass awesomeness. It was all made by Joe Boyd Vigil, an electronica artist. This is the album that brings it all into one collection. I'm probably just biased and nostalgic, but this album is fantastic. |

Stars of the Lid - And Their Refinement Of The Decline This has to be one of the chillest albums I've ever heard. |

Jessica Bailiff - Even in Silence In many ways a typical Kranky release; droning, highly textured slowcore with a dreamy, repetitive vibe. This album packs one hell of a punch. Great stuff. |
pg.lost - Key
http://www.thesirenssound.com/wp-con...g.lost-Key.jpg I've given this album two full listens since I got it yesterday afternoon. It lives up to it's expectations if not delivers more than what would be expected. With 7 tracks total, they know how to pack it into an good 40 to 50 minutes or pure post-rock. I always have high expectations for this band, and again, they show it with flying colors. |

Just listening to the collaboration between Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). Unsure what to make of it so far but it's certainly not a retro 70's Prog fest that many may think it could be. Intriguing. |

Yeah Storm Corrosion is definitely genre bending as expected. Hints of Scott Walker creeping in which I love. Drag Ropes just has that vibe to it elements of The Drift which is by far the scariest work of audio art I've ever had the privilege to listen. Buying this album tomorrow. Grace for Drowning was a triumph for Steven as was Heritage for Opeth.

I haven't listened to it yet but I know "First Utterance" is a favorite of Mikael's so as soon as I saw the "Progressive/Psychedelic Folk" tags on RYM I knew it would be a homage to Comus. I'm excited, downloading now.
