5. Madvillain - Madvillainy
Got me into hip-hop, it's as simple as that.

4. Green Day - American Idiot
Sure their earlier stuff is better, but this is the only one I remember. I spent so many hours just listening to this as much as I could when it came out.

3. ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead - Source Tags and Codes
Got me into music.

2. Muse - Absolution
Probably the only album I (secretly) still like now just as much as I did 6 years ago.

1. Vince Guaraldi Trio - A Charlie Brown Christmas
Do I really need to explain?

Extremely far from my current music taste but I suppose that's just as well.

Bit of an overstatement dont you think? Yes, its hyped to high heaven, and overrated, but its still a fine album.

I cant help but think people lay hate upon this album because its somehow cool to do so.

Brand New - Deja Entendu
I didn't even know the word "emo," I just really appreciated the diversity and emotion of the songs, as well as a lot of the lyricism. I listened to the CD until it wore out.

Thrice - The Artist In The Ambulance
I had heard a couple songs before by Thrice, and besides Deadbolt, none really inspired me to buy a cd. I ended up getting this CD out of some pizza box deal, and couldn't put it down.

The Faint - Blank Wave Arcade
This was my introduction to alternative fused with electronic... or however you want to classify them. The CD sat on a shelf for a while, and it wasn't until I needed a new CD for my car that I realized the catchiness and playability of this CD.

Franz Ferdinand - Self Titled
It's just danceable. Plain and simple. Totally upbeat. I fell in love with Auf Achse.

Sum 41 - All Killer, No Filler
So this was like... end of junior high school. At the time, it was an awesome CD, and reinforced my desire to play drums. This was before I realized the entity that was Neil Peart.

Something Corporate - Leaving Through The Window
Who knew piano rock could be fun?

Death Cab For Cutie - Transatlanticism
Again. I had no idea of the stupid concept that was "Emo." It was just a good collection of great songs.

AFI - Sing The Sorrow
I had known about AFI for a bit, but I was never into a lot of their more punk songs (discounting cruise control.) but they caught my attention with The Art Of Drowning's "The Days of the Phoenix." When Sing The Sorrow came out, I realized that the whole atmosphere of this CD was awesome. Then came decemberunderground, which was a total letdown.

I could post a couple more, but they'd likely just blend in with the other bands. Jimmy Eat World, No Use For A Name, GOB. I've never been a huge classic rock fan.

1. Led Zeppelin 4 CD compilation
My dad had this and a lot of their tapes as well. I just remember loving CD 3. Achilles Last Stand, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot were my 3 favorite. I didn't even understand how great this band was but I just completely loved them and played these CD's over and over.

2. Deltron 3030
I was very big into hip hop when I was younger and I believe this was the first CD I owned (besides Baha Men). The title track blew my mind when I first listened to it and I think it was the first time I fell in love with music.

3. Journey - Greatest Hits
Listening to this made me want to become a singer. Every song perfectly blends pop with great musicianship and this album was my first foray out of 70s classic rock and 90s hip hop.

4. Brand New Deja Entendu
I couldn't ever understand why I loved this band so much. I certainly wasn't impressed by the technical skill and didn't think anything about them was that great. But I couldn't stop listening. This album made me realize current rock music is being made in the world and it's music I can enjoy.

5. Blackalicous - Nia
Just a purely amazing album that I couldn't stop listening to for a very long time.

6. Taking Back Sunday - Tell All Your Friends
I know just about every word to every song on this album. So many memories go along with it.

7. Pink Floyd - The Wall
Blew my mind. I can laying on the floor in my living room blasting Comfortably Numb. I was transported to a different world as I became the music.

8. Bone Thugs & Harmony - East 1999 Eternal
I was into this album when I was about 4 years old. Never outgrew it.

9. Saosin - Translating the Name
Where Journey made me want to become a singer, I actually became one when I was so fascinated with Anthony Green and this band. Seven Years has a couple hundred plays on my computer. As I got more and more into hardcore music, I found bands I was disappointed with. Saosin resurrected me into the genre and I stayed for quite a while.

10. Lion of the North - The Compass Calls
Only 4 songs but it got me into emo music. I wrote my college essay about this band. I still can't stop listening to them.

In no particular order:

The Strokes: First Impressions of Earth.
I remember listening to 30 second samps of songs on this album over and over again on iTunes. I didn't really like what I was hearing, but for some reason I kept wanting to listen. When I listened to the full album, it didn't have that old Strokes feel that I came to love, but I still kept listening. Every run through I gave it, I slowly began to like it more and more, until I eventually loved it. Its important because it expanded my musical tastes a bit to more experimental music. Sure, the album wasn't extremely experimental, but it was a step towad listening to more innovative, different music.

Dillinger Escape Plan: Irony is a Dead Scene.
I can't believe how I discovered this band. I remember looking through some playlist on iTunes with songs selected by the vocalist from AFI, which was one of my favorite bands at the time. One of Dillinger's songs was on the playlist, and as soon as I heard the 30 second sample, I instantly became obsessed. The band had that chaos and complexity that I always wanted to hear more of in the current bands I liked. The reason I put this Dillinger album down in particular is that it had Mike Patton doing vocals on it. After hearing the album, I checked out who Mike Patton was, which eventually led me to discovering Mr. Bungle. Which leads me to...

All of Mr. Bungle's albums.
I discovered the band and wanted to buy their albums, but I had to leave with my family for a vacation in California. I ended up buying the albums while we were vacationing there and listened to them almost religiousley. The long car rides to get each place gave me alot of time to listen. Every time I listened to the band, I liked them more and more.

All of Hella's albums.
Like Mr. Bungle, it wasn't just one particular album, its the entire band. This band got me into even more Noisy, experimental and mathy rock.
